Do fake likes cause any damage?

I've read a few articles online saying facebook reacts to fake likes by decreasing your reach, has anyone had any experience of this?

They don't have to react. It happens by itself...

Simple Example (I'm rounding corners just to make it easier to understand):
Let's say your page's reach is 10%.
If you have 1,000 likes, it means on average 100 people will see your posts.
Now you go to fiverr and buy 5k likes from india.
So you have 6,000 likes, and reach is 10%, so 600 people will see your posts.

Seems good, right? 600 instead of 100.
NO...
Because those 600 could be all from the fake indian accounts, so your real reach would be 0.

yes they cause damage because you will get no engagement from those likes and the more engagement you get the more people will view your posts...

I have get any kind of reach penalty from fb for fake likes. But yeah i used them for start up boost.

Well don't expect engagement from the fake likes.. A page with more likes is more appealing so it will naturally help draw in real visitors, who will bring real engagement. So use the fake likes as a boost to help get started.

as long as the fake likes aren't too terribly obvious, i don't see the down side in them. i use small amounts of likes per content to get the ball running.

In fact, many people don't like fake interactions, they will report you and then ban your account. There are many cases of fake interactions to advertise your brand, so I think it will be okay.

It's usually consider spam but there is a work around it. You can buy all fake likes and followers but at the same time you must find a way to get organic followers as well or audience. You have to mixed it up to avoid getting shadowbanned. If its just full 100% boosted then in reality you have 0 audience or reach in the first place it is nothing but for show.
