I'm Web Developer and I want to get part-time/full-time job

Hello! I'm from Portugal and I'm almost 18 years old.

So let me tell you my story:
I started web development when I was 13/14 years old, I can't remember for sure.
I was a totally noob at start, but 4 years have gone and now I'm good at it.

That's my story, a little short.
But I'm here to get a job not to tell stories.

What do I know? I know PHP, MySQL, JAVASCRIPT, AJAX, WORDPRESS, MAGENTO, etc.

I hope to see some offers here.

Do you use a WP theme framework, i.e. Thesis, for your work? Do you do mockups? Do you study UX (user experience)? You can use all of these disciplines on freelancer sites. You can maybe get contacts, and long term work.

I don't use WP theme frameworks, I used to do mockups.
I don't study UX but I understand the point of view. When I'm coding I feel like I'm the user when browsing the website, so I try to do my best.

Yeah, I know it's great. I've already created account in Odesk and Elance, but it ain't easy to get jobs around there.

Man its hard without without proven skills or qualifications. Know your skill level, don't be arrogant, and apply for everything remotely related to programming.

I was lucky and found a local, small dev studio. I'm sure those types of places exist in your area, or in cities. Mine gave me a test question before the interview that was pretty simple. Once there I had to explain the code, to prove I wrote it and to show my coding thought process.
Also was also able to answer what an inner join is. Apart from that I meshed well with the team interviewing me.

There are plenty of freelance opportunities online. Even working a 9-5, as an entity the company is just a freelance contractor. So its not so different for us. Just us devs don't have to hunt down or even talk to clients. I do love that. Once you build up a client base, or at least enough current clients and projects, you can limit yourself to 9-5 each day, budgeting your time.

All those freelance sites suck to use. I honestly don't recommend it, but i've never had good experiences with them. You can occasionally find a college kid to tutor on CL. Some will do remote, some local. Kids suck though. I'd rather find gigs through networking here or other forums.

There are certainly a lot of programming opportunities, and a lot of chances to do something simple for someone and maybe gain a client.
There are probably people on bhw that would hire you full time for projects, but not before you prove yourself long term.

Also you can just take up a marketing project and work 9-5 on it, potentially bringing in some kind of income. As a coder, you don't always have to build stuff for other people. But I understand it doesn't get ya fed

Yeah, I know I don't always need to make stuff for peopld and I could build myself a websitr if I had ideas and the knowldge in marketing that is needed.

For the 9-5 job, I don't know any small dev studio around here.
