Someone asked me to post a picture to promote their product that's related to my niche and asked how much I would charge. I have 88k followers and get 6-8k likes per picture. How much should I charge them? And if I do it through PayPal, would asking them to send it as a gift ensure that I do not get charged back? Thank you!! :)

EDIT: I am in the cat niche, so please let me know what prices would be appropriate for that!

Charge them $50 - $300. It depends on what they are trying to promote. Also, there is no stopping someone from them going to their bank/credit card company and charging back. Sometimes you can win, but not usually.

Well if they chargeback then you could just remove the picture, or even post a new picture showing the stupid thing they just did haha.

Revenge after the fact, lets assume all goes well with the agreement. :). OP, charge what you feel is fair and go from there.

Oh my god really? I was thinking $20 would be too much! I have context though since I've never charged for a post on Instagram and haven't seen any other threads asking this. I think I'll wait to see what other people have to say just to be sure but thank you!!

6-8k likes huh.. I wouln't take less then 150$ for that, and it's worth even more

u're a bit noob.

@OP: Yes, the real price is somewhere to $50-150. no higher.
ask him for paypal gift.
the real question is...how long do u plan to keep his picture up? 24hours?
An important thing to determinate the shoutout price is the nr of hours that the pic is up.

If the followers of the account is based in the US/CA/UK in a certain niche then paying higher than $150 is justified. Especially if the the post lasts for 24 hours.

I know a few people charging $20 per hour on 100k accounts with tons of active followers based in the US/CA/UK. This comes out to be $480 for 1 day.

That is exactly where I was coming from. 9.8k likes? That is a lot of exposure and it costs money. Charge well, OP.

Yeah, good math, but there's always discounts for long-term shoutouts :P
If someone buy 1 hour, then he wants 24 hours...of course u won't charge at the same rate price.
+ a shoutout at 6 AM isn't the same thing with a shoutout at 6 PM. think on that.

Give them reasonable price, dont ask for too much at the start, get things rolling and maybe later you can increase the price.

I just emailed them and asked how long they want it up for so I'll see what they say. Thank you!!

Hmm pretty sure most of my followers are in those countries, however im not sure. Is there a way to see the demographics of my followers? Also it is in the cat niche, so not the most popular. I'm assuming prices would change due to the niche. With it being known that it's the cat niche, would you all still suggest the same prices? Thanks! :)

the better option is you ask the client how much we want to pay. Maybe if you give a price much more them he want to pay you will lose.

You'll have to do a lot of testing to see what the optimal price would be.

Just look at what other people charge for shoutouts, in my experience I'd say 2 hours on your account is $50-$75. If it's a cat specific product or company you can charge higher, knowing they don't have many other options.

They've offered it for $50. I think I'll try for $75.

Thank you everyone for all your help, it's been settled at $150.
