Alternative to YCN ?

There aren't that many upfront with pageview payment sites. Tons of sites doing adsense rev. or amazon rev. sharing. However, upfront payment is becoming a thing of the past.
Demand Studios is going down the drain
Break studios have little to no work
Helium is closing
Suite 101 died
Wisegeek isn't taking any new writers at the moment
****About.com (Might be the closest thing to YCN. Pay is high (like $93 or more per article depending on the topic you choose plus revenue sharing from traffic sorta like YCN) but they tend to hire professional and their application process can take MONTHS)
lovetoknow (according to their site, pay varies but most range from $15 to $50 per article written...I never worked for them)
Internet Brands (don't know how they work)

I do miss Yahoo Voices a little simply because you could write about almost anything and you had a good chance of getting upfront payments.
If I had to pick just one article writing site that was the closest alternative to Yahoo Voices I would say iWriter because its free to join and they pay using PayPal. They also have a variety topics that you can write about and there is no limit on how many articles you can write.

Basically all writing broker sites (iwriter, textbroker, etc.) are the same. Free to sign up, uses paypal, mixed categories one can choose, etc.
