I see a few topics here in BHW where some guys are selling websites.
Eg: $5000+/mo with blah blah blah :)

I asked for some samples to see what is about and the "magic website" was a bad free template with 10 - 15 spinned articles and the seller didn't want to provide me any kind of informations about the earnings and about the traffic.

So, I just don't get it. What are they selling there?
Why BHW allow such kind of topics because when you say $5000+/mo with websites that have 0 traffic, that can be called scam, right?

Yeah, I just edited my post. I was thinking at black hat seo.

It's a bunch of marketing crap, and frankly I wish part of the approval process required vetting the claims these BST sellers make. But that's not realistic. Is it possible to make that kind of money in theory? Sure. Are you gonna get that from what they're selling you right off the bat? Absolutely not. IMO, that makes it borderline scammy when they're making claims that are obviously unfounded. I've been burned in the past, but now I just know to buy anything a la carte if at all.

Well, that's sad :)
Even if my account is from 2011, I'm new here. I just got used with the comunity and I thought that BHW wants to be a comunity where we can help not scam eachother.

If you're going to define a community based off of some bad apples, you're going to struggle to ever find a good one. Use your own common sense and don't be afraid to be skeptical when something sounds too good to be true. I'd recommend starting out following some of the advice on this forum rather than buying a bunch of services. Get a feel for who's reputable and you'll increase your knowledge and learn how to spot legitimate deals in the BST section.

I think sellers here are not trying to scam you, its just that competition is very strong and they promise too much to get an order.

Maybe it is time to update some rules here!

By and large the community IS full of honest, bright, and helpful people. But there's always going to be a few bad apples, that's life.

Before buying a website demand proof of traffic and revenue.

You thought right. There is zero tolerance with scams here!

If you thought a website offer was low quality, you are entitled not to buy it.

Nobody's scamming you. There has got to be a reason for a $5000 price tag, the seller will explicitly say why the price tag is high. I assure you with the kinds of pros we got here, nobody's selling a $5000 site for nothing. It'd be destroyed by the community in a minute.

Give us examples of who exactly is trying to scam you. Again, feeling that something is expensive but low quality is NOT scamming, but the market oughta set things straight(nobody buys low quality sites, guy goes bust - it's that simple).

Well, if I tell you that I'm gonna sell you a website that makes 5000$ month and that website is a cheap free template with a few low quality articles and 10 visitors/day, isn't like I'm trying to scam you? Just asking :)

I bought one. Been working hard to rank it. Made about $1 in 6 months. Only paid $35. Eventually I will get my money back lol. My own fault. Should have done research.

Paying $35 and getting a $1 return is about right. People forget just how much premium content,
a decent site layout, and possibly an aged domain is worth. I don't have one website I would let go
for $35. I'm not a site flipping guru but if a website is making $100 a month then its at least worth
$1200 dollars.

Mate you might get your money back but you won't get your time back, dump it and chalk it unto a $35 learning experience.

A lot of the BST section is highly suspect. In my opinion anyone selling keywords or premade sites are suspect, if they are so easy to rank as they say in their sales copy then why arnt they ranking them and keeping 100% of the profit? They are just scamming noobs....some of the SEO service providers are suspect too!

I don't think he's talking about a site that is being sold for $5000. I think he is talking about MNS sellers offering sites for $30-$50 and a sales page promising returns of $5000.

They are not saying you will earn $5000 from a single site. They probably recommend you buy a package of 100 sites for that kind of return (not advisable)

I think you know the answer here. Just avoid these offers. You will end up with a 4-5 page site around a single keyword, with 1000 local searches a month, and a CPC of $1. Even if you hit first place with this site, and received say 400 visits a month from your main keyword, and 200 visits from long tail keywords, and converted at 3% with an actual CPC of 50c, you would be making $9 a month. That is for hitting number one. Halve that if you hit top 5, if you are lucky. (btw - feel free to correct my maths anyone!)

If the site isn't good in the first place, then you will have to re-write it. If the niche doesn't have much scope then you won't be able to add much more content. If you are not interested in the niche, then you won't be motivated to keep it going. With all the money and effort you would need to put in to rank in first place anyway, it is not worth it.

Find a niche yourself, and plan the content you want. Then either write the stuff yourself or find a decent content writer. Good luck.

While I don't agree with promissing a $5000 return on a $35 site as a cheap marketing tool, I gotta say it's up to the buyer to judge whether this makes any sense.

Technically speaking, someone registered FB.com for U$ 9 one day and it was sold for a fortune to Facebook.com. Whoever bought FB.com never imagined one day a catalog of people would buy it for hundreds of thousands times more than it was worth one day.

So promissing an immense potential return is not entirely a lie. But you gotta be able to judge whether thissitereallysucksshit.com is gonna return $5k or nothing at all.

They are saying $50-$5000 which means if you Buy their Biggest package of i think 20+ will make you $5000 accumulated.

But these will not work until and unless you work hard on SEO of the website.

Price for a site that makes $5000+/mo would be more than $60.000

Nothing is buy and go. Some guys will slap together a website with some spinning of articles and run a program to get you some back links and sell it for $30. Other guys will go bigger, use better themes, more articles, etc. That will sell for more.

This is not a scam. If a guy knows how to make a website which can be profitable, and you do not, this is how to learn. The sites do keyword research, put together a website, outsource articles, etc.

If you do your home work, they can be profitable. A lot of new guys mind sets are this is a magic field in which you can spend $30 on a website and earn 1000+ a month with no work. If you add more articles, do some SEO, and get creative, you can make money on the project.

I have bought a few sites, just ordered a hand full more. Obviously some are better than others. I found it to be the BEST learning experience in building this kind of site. You need to have a wide set of basic skills in IM which you can try to learn all at once, but for a complete beginner, you save a lot of time. This is well worth $30 bucks.

That may just be me. When I eventually do make money off a bought site, it is after scaling up, getting good SEO, and getting more keywords on the site and ranking them. The money does come, after you learn how to do it.

Scam? No. False promises? Depends who you buy from. Some guys tell you that you need to keep trying and learn how to scale up. Other guys say buy and go, and give estimated earning from guys who make it work. I tend to buy from the guys who are honest, tell me I need to do some work.

I agree with OP. It's false promise and it shouldn't be allowed here. This is not WaFo.

So they lie people, right? Or they forgot to say the most important thing: DUDE, IF YOU DON'T KNOW SEO, THESE WEBSITES ARE USELESS. Those of us who know to work hard on SEO don't need their garbadge to work on. Let's be serious, a .com domain is 2$ on GD, 5 decent articles are 20$ and a decent template won't take me more than 3 hours do do it.

Thank you all for you replies and advices BUT I don't complain about me getting scammed. I don't think I could ever be scammed with something like that. I was talking about the attitudie of BHW regarding this kind of offers.

I have forums too. Not so big as BHW is, but the main rule in marketplace is don't try to scam eachother and when someone is trying to do this, he goes home :). And that works, people like that feeling that they find honest people in marketplace.
