Does changing links on post affects rankings ?

Well I have a website which is ranking good on serps . I have decided to put a Button so that when the user clicks the button he will be able to download the file. However I want to keep changing the link of the button. Will it hurt my site if I keep on changing the links of the button ?

Outbound links dont affect serps that much with what ive seen so far.

Outbound links can hurt, if your page is ranking well, and then you insert ton of spammy/affiliate (or paid ones to gambling/viagra sites) links it can hurt you rankings

If you just want to add a link to a file that won't change anything

I guess google won't be able to track where the link is going because the will will be shortened by bitly

google will easily track the link destination

Install this plugin if you're paranoid about outbound link structure.

You can create an external link like yoursite.com/download and change the destination url to whatever you want without breaking the link structure.

Doing that won't affect your site SEO-wise. But if you are still worried, you can install a 301 redirection plugin and redirect a url on your site to the download link. Then whenever you want to change the download link, edit the plugin settings and change where the url redirects to.

From my experience I don't think it affects the SERPs either, but what SEO Power mentioned is a good idea.

Depends on the link really, there could be a very slim chance it will affect your rankings but even it doesn't it probably wouldn't be by much.
