How can i start my own ARTICLE DIRECTORY?

I am planning to start my own Article directory. Did the some research and it looks like many of the existing ones are using scripts. Not sure which one ezineatciles/goarticles/articlebase are using.

seen few results using wpblog as article directory ( i am not really convinced that wordpress blog/sql db can handle such a huge volume. May be i am wrong)

please help me with some of your knowledge..

1) what is the popular platform that makes setting up/managing the Article directory easy ( free or paid, either one is ok. I am willing to buy if its worth it)

2) how is the moderation of articles is usually handled ? means.. how to make sure decently written articles only get published. Can this be automated ?

3) i havent thought of how to monetize this article directory, but guess its a combination of adsense+clcikbank+amazon+lot of others. Apart from this one can always use the directory for backlinks.

But reviewing the articles cant be automated.
If your website start growing then hire few qualified English writers to review.

just make sure that you focus on the quality of the content of the articles. There are too many sites out there that allow for spammy content just to increase the number of visitors to the site. Good luck.

I set up an article directory using a script I found on this forum a few weeks ago. I hoped to start making some money with adsense however that did not happen. What I am finding though is that I am building up a mailing list with very little effort.
