[Bitcoin] Importance & Potential Value In Bitcoin Faucets

Hey guys,

I wanted to come today, as a guy who's full time on Bitcoin. Great to see this forum open a crypto currency section, I had an older account and deleted the email account associated with it. I'm here today to bring up the topic of bitcoin faucets. Being a SEO forum, most people are internet marketers. ALOT of people are missing the traffic that comes hand and hand with the crypto community.

Bitcoin faucets: give away micro-payments of free bitcoin. You can PM me for examples, I can't post links. As the site owner, you make your money back + more on selling ad space, or whatever monetization technique you use. I launched one a few months ago, and I get on average 1,500,000 unique visitors a month, and make more money back on my ad space than I ever thought I could charge for them.

Is anyone else in this industry? I'm looking to possibly offer a service that creates a bitcoin faucet for you, and lists it as an ad on one of my highly trafficked faucet to get traffic flowing from day one.

Other than that: monetization techniques for a faucet? feedback? questions? Just trying to have an open discussion on driving traffic regarding faucets.

These faucets are growing like mushrooms.So far i read somewhere that it is not profitable.Unless you are going to do some excessive popups.To drive traffic to it is not easy...too much competition

They are popping up, the difference is having one that dosen't look horrible & is easy to use. Most of these faucets are horribly designed & incredibly confusing. Honestly having a better design puts you on top, I have a faucet listed on Land Of Bitcoin (top result for 'free bitcoin') that gets me the 1.5M visitors a month, I then use that site to drive traffic to my other ones. If you partner with the better faucets out there, its actually very easy to get traffic. I've had a faucet getting consistently 5K UV's/day a week after launch. If you do it right, you have a huge competitive advantage.

I'm thinking of bridging them to a Bitcoin FAQ, block explorer, wallet, etc to add more utilities as well & functionality.

Nope, a faucet is a site that you can come to, enter your BTC address, and get sent a micropayment of bitcoin. No account needed, and unfortunately I can't PM. PM me your Skype if you'd like to chat, faucets may be a better route than a PTC site.

But if you've got tips and ideas for marketing BTC related websites I think not only I but several folks here would be interested.

I work for a bitcoin startup, so I spend most of my day working for them. I am head of marketing, interacting with bitcoin community across all online mediums. You get a very strong understanding of the different communities, and how to market to them without being down voted or bashed to hell (bitcoiners hate advertisements). This is a very tricky industry, and I'm very proud for the understanding and results I provide for crypto related marketing.

I spend 12-14 hours a day being active in the bitcoin community, and promoting my company along side it. You have to know the balance between contributing & advertising. Theres a 100 "tips and tricks" of marketing to this community I've gathered through my time. But, I spend all day, 7 days a week; understanding the bitcoin community ecosystem. I deal with all PR announcements, all external marketing, community engagement, etc. It's only four of us, so it's a little bit of everything in the crypto world. We don't like official titles, but it would be an all encompassing role of CMO.

I do all this other stuff on the side, and I grow faucets, BTC info websites, niche blogs, all in the crypto sector. All very large players. If you could get on a Skype, I could get into more details about how I could potentially help your situation / clients.

Depends on your faucet and how you get traffic. I usually charge 0.5BTC for 1 year domain/hosting, faucet built + maintenance, and advertising on main faucet for 1 mo to drive traffic, while marketing for your faucet as well.

One thing I've wondered about these faucets is can you use Adsense with them? I swear I've seen a couple of them running Adsense and it seems risky because of the subject matter and the fact that you're giving people an incentive to come back and or click on ads.

Edit: one more thing, have you seen anybody trying to list build this way? It would be a cheap way to get emails and I know it's not the best niche for it but if you can find a way for them to spend crypto and you profit - well there's only so many places they can spend it....

You sure can run AdSence, you just need to ad some content to the site for them to approve it. Ive specifically gotten some approved under description: Bitcoin Faucet. There dosen't seem to be any issue as long as you have content as well.

As for list building; yes, people are just starting. The niche doesn't have a lot of smart IM'ers in it, just people randomly throwing up websites and seeing what sticks. There is a lot of room for proper monetization with these, which is why I wanted to bring it up on this forum.

wordpress works great ,like i say 20 minutes . you set a homepage and modify contact form 7 which delivers the addresses , then its easy to tweet and more importantly post to redditt, see your stats ,add ad space ,use the blog . it couldnt be easier .i used either 2013 or 2012 full width as the template in black i cant remember which .
0.5 of a bitcoin seems expensive for someone who also needs to provide regular coins to give away but if you make sales at that price then fair play .
ive had ltc ,zeta and ftc faucets of my own and while the price is low or the mining is easy its all good but its not long before your laying out on these coins just to keep people happy .
you say bigger coins and i wander which you mean , would anyone give away btc now ? i doubt it , ltc has nothing really to offer , take a look at the faucets or services available for that coin , pretty well nothing and has just rode the wave of btc with next to no infrastucture or support . you could say the same for ppc and nmc etc .
there is a massive future in crypto for sure but until someone copies the path of btc with advertising , pay per view , faucets and retail outlets no other coin has a future .
maybe this could be a way forward for you ,offering the whole package , bitpay was a good market place for btc but was left unpoliced and turned into a porn film outlet .if someone was to offer a similar service linked to a particular coin that could be bought earned and exchanged by ppv ,faucets ,cpa ,accepted by cryptsy for example ,and easily exchanged for dollars ,then they could say they had a currency rather than a pump and dump method of increasing their own bitcoin holdings .
only coins that do something along these lines will restore any sort of faith from the public in alternative currencies .
