Hi, in this journey you can read about my journey towards making $200 a month with one website that I am currently building. This amount would give me some investment money to further raise my monthly income and drink with my friends a bit more often. :)

This is something I am going to build slowly so I don't get burned out too quickly. I'm thinking about taking the advice that I read somewhere about working only 2-3 hours a day in the beginning.

What I have done this far:
Found a good niche to work with
Found a couple of ways to monetize my website (content lock more exclusive content in my niche, sell advertising space and promote affiliate products related to my niche on both my website and to my upcoming email list)Bought a brand new domain
Chosen a great theme (the X theme created by Theme.co)
Added plugins to the website

  • All In One SEO Pack (for on-site SEO)
  • Contact Form 7 (to make easy contact forms)
  • Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (to keep an eye on traffic)
  • Google XML Sitemaps (to easily submit my site's sitemap to Google)
  • Sociable (to make it easy for people to share the content on social media sites)
  • ThirstyAffiliates (to cloak affiliate links)
  • Wordpress Hype Generator (to generate comments in the beginning of my website to make it more attractive for people)
  • WP Super Cache (to improve the speed of my website)
Gathered over 60 topics to write about as a start. I won't do any keyword research before those 60 articles are written because I won't really rely on Google to bring in traffic as people don't know the terms used in the niche I have chosen, except for one keyword that will be hard to outrank but would bring in massive amounts of traffic. But from personal experience, people wants to know more about the niche.

Right now I have noted down a few ways I will promote my website and it goes as follows:
Pay not too big YouTubers to put my link in their videos
Pay not too big streamers to put my link in their descriptions
Use the website as my nickname in games I play (what do you guys think about this?)
Build a strong presence on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook
Build a YouTube channel (not too sure about this one yet)

Current subgoal:
Write 60 articles by the end of this month

Expenses:
Hosting from Hostwinds: $6.5
Domain: $10

I can kinda see where this is heading, sounds good man. Just remember its sometimes easy to have your attention all over the place, I know I'm guilty of this. Just focus on one area until its working.
The niche I believe you are going after is something I've done in the past and even done my fair share of streaming on twitch.
You might want to check out a site called 'Patreon' that supports creative people and could see your hosting/content creation paid for by your viewers/followers. Worth some thought.

Thank you for the support. Right now I'm going to focus on setting up the very basics of the website and then move onto writing pure content for a week or two.

No problem, and sounds like a good foundation to your strategy as its always good to have a site riddled with shareable content to funnel any visitors through.
Good luck man

Update

I won't update this very often (once a week or so probably) but I will reply if you have any questions.

These few days I've been created a strategy on how my content will be written, found even more content to write about and in what order I will write the content so almost everything is like a spider web... connected. I also setup a good amount of categories (but not too many) to make it easier for the visitors to navigate on my website.

Good luck on your journey man, $200 is a very modest goal, I would personally aim for much higher. It should be easily achievable.

Good luck Op in addition to do remember exactly what every person expresses inside subsequent won't give in, retain attempting although you may may freeze decide the reason a great certain was unable in addition to assistance to generate modifications for your course of action after that once you set out to turn out finances level this particular in excess.
