So a new business associate of mine used to work in the Mortgage industry. Back in 2008 he obtained a list of over 90,000,000 emails as well as over 500,000 Names, emails, addresses, and phone numbers of people who had taken out a mortgage on their house in 2008.

My mind is racing through all of the possible ways to monetize this. However I am a total noob when it comes to email marketing (outside of small mailchimp blasts to clients of a few of my small businesses) and especially when it comes to MASS email marketing/spamming. What kind of software/setup should I use?

So, how would you guys monetize this? I'm thinking about testing out both low and high priced clickbank and peerfly products. linking directly to offer first, and next building a landing page.

Anybody with any experience want to give me their two sense? I am open to JV's as well guys.

Thanks

EDIT: all names/numbers/addresses are US based. as are the emails

I would look for companies that offer mortgage refinancing and sell them the list. Alternatively, you could work out a lead gen model with these companies and market their solutions to your list.

I've got a lot of popular health products to jv on if you get it figured out.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that 2008 was when the financial crisis really started to hit.

And that's a great year for working out a more specific monetization plan.

There are several demographics that will be more prevalent in that list:

People just coming out of negative equity - bought at the peak of the market and took a huge hit
Bankrupts - a lot of them were overstretched and couldn't afford the payments
People who weathered the storm OK, but are now much more worried about interest rates starting to rise again

There'll be more of course, but each one of those situations means you can target specific financial offers or products to them.

Bankrupts who have just been discharged will be great for credit repair offers
The negative equity guys may be more likely to sell up and move up
Interest rate worriers - re-mortgaging

If you can clean up the list and figure out who is who, it could be very valuable.

Don't waste your resource by listening to the people who PM you wanting to spam it with unrelated crap

Wow. 90 million is probably the entire economically active population of the USA....and 1% conversion rate means 900 thousand leads.

Whatever you do, even if you sell dog poo, if you can fire 90 mln emails you'll make a bundle of cash.

1% conversion rate from an email list that is 6 years old and that has to be contacted via private server; there is absolutely no way in hell or heave you'd get a 0.1%CR from that list... like seriously, no way.

Not only the emails might not be working, but the owners might have moved on and have complete different interests than when that list was gathered.

Last but not least, consider that you'll be needing a good ass private server where to spam from. I haven't met anyone capable to surpassing a 50% inbox rate from random emails, so I would honestly not have my hopes up.

All in all, 90m is still a huge number, give it a go and see what happens; I would just be cautious as you might invest some good ks and get nothing in return.

normaly you can say that a list loses 5% of its validity each month. After 6 years (72 months) dont expect to much

email is thing of the past, nobody checkes their emails unless they are expecting something from a mail, all the rest is deleted

Absolute rubbish.

That's like saying phones are a thing of the past, nobody answers the phone unless they are expecting a call

Thanks for all the advice guys. Let me clarify, I do not believe that the 90,000,000 emails are all of people who took out mortgages on their house in 2008. No way. I believe these are purely random emails that were collected by some means. The 500k names, adresses, and phone numbers is the mortgage list.

Can anybody with experience in bulk emailing point me in the right direction in terms of a good Private server to use? I currently pay monthly for an ELITE Dedicated server from hostgator. Here are the specs:
  • Intel Xeon Quad Core, 2.5GHz (8 threads)
  • 500 Mbps Uplink
  • 8 GB High Performance RAM
  • 1,000 GB RAID-1 Drives
  • 20 TB Bandwidth
  • 4 Dedicated IPs
Will this suffice? If I can do 500k emails a day that would be great

That's the way I understood it anyway.

I think the value is in the mortgage list and if it were me that's what I would focus on.

order a bulk mail server with enough ip adresses but clean your list first with a validation service, I think youre list have many bounces ands then youre ips will be blocked

success

90 million? Nah, I don't believe you.

i Doubt about 90 Million Transactions and even if they occurred how come you got emails from all of those ?

I haven't said I've verified them yet. But yes, 90 million email addresses. The company my associate worked for was one of the market leaders in the region in the mortgage industry at that time.
