So, I often see people buying domains here solely based on the DA, PA, TF or PR. Let me tell you this now, these metrics are severely flawed, and will only hurt your SEO campaigns. In this post I am going to demonstrate why these metrics are dead, and relying on them is bad for you.

All domains in this post are unregistered at the time of posting, feel free to register them:
DA38 organiconsumers.org
DA37 ciudadjuarez2008-2010.com
DA34 nikeairmax-1.com

Backlinks to all of these domains consist of viagra/pharma links, blog comments, xrumer blasts etc. Is this really what you want being forwarded on to your money site?

Now look at these low/no PR/DA: (again, available to register if you want)
showuptix.com (natural links from examiner.com/phoenixnewtimes.com and more)
sweetland08.com (natural links from washingtonpost,opencongress,redstate,edu)

Now, i could spend another 1 hour showing examples, and showing you more domains I have, but I wont do that. Can I ask why everybody still relies on these metrics, buying junk domains because of some number created by a piece of software unrelated to googles algorithm, or an outdated metric that even google dont use anymore?

I have spent the past few months perfecting my own personal piece of software to root out these good domains, and even though it picks out many good ones, there are many junk ones included too. You guys need to start looking at the data behind the numbers

I think that a lot of the bigger SEO BSTs that use PBNs are actually sourcing quality links out via their backlinks also. There's also services on the BST to buy domains with high DA/PF/TF that have also been sorted through to have good backlink profiles.

I will agree with you though, a lot of people get caught up in the face values on the numbers and don't really understand what's going on behind the numbers because it's pushed so hard here without explanation.

But what about MA metric? have you heard about that?

Its not really as easy as looking at DA/PR/TF alone for domain quality, it take a lot more due diligence.

People like metrics bro, uust give them that lol.

I have a fake pr site with low pa da tf cf stats and its outranking several high metric sites lol. The reason? Of course its the backlinks ;)

I'm willing to bet 75% of people here who think they're getting a killer expired domain for their PBN are actually buying a spammed and/or penalized domain that has been dropped. I've come across so much garbage that if you don't really dig into the backlinks, you won't even know it.

That's how I do it.

Step 1: Filter domains by high CF/TF(or other metrics you like.)
Step 2: Manually check backlink profile for each domain.
Step 3: Check with archive.org if domain was used before in a pbn
Step 4: Register, build site etc

is there any way to check the backlinks profile if the sources has blocked other bots to crawl except googlebots?

This is the right way to do it. Anyone that buys high metric domains without analysing their link profiles don't know what they're doing. If you analyse their link profiles, you won't have to worry about purchasing a spammed high metric domain.

And no, I don't agree with the OP. Those metrics are actually useful. I use Majestic and Ahrefs metrics and they are indispensable.

Well i'm still finding some good domains with amazing metrics with thousands of links, you just have to know how to search. And i'm doing it by hand only relying on free tools and ahrefs.

i start building pbn for my niche with help of friend from here, best is to check quality regular links than high DA PA TF CF here many new people in pbn make mistakes and rush to buy these domains later see they wrong. and its best to have ur pbn as nobody else can get links from it 30-50 nice domains, than purchasing from services

I agree they can be useful as a guide for which domains to look at, however as a metric used for buying and selling a domain, determining its value based solely on these numbers. Back when PR was updated, i understood it, but now, people are assigning false values to these numbers. I see domains sold daily based on these numbers alone, with disregard for backlink profiles. Most people here seem to understand that there is more to a domain than these metrics, but for every one of you guys, there are 10 others who dont. I suppose, for now atleast, its good for the sellers of these domains.

What you've written is right, except they are not "dead" - they never were alive in the first place.

Or at least they could never substitute manual backlink checks.

However, I do find them reasonably helpful when I'm looking for keywords with ZERO competition. The Moz toolbar does save me quite a bit of time when I go keyword hunting ;)

A domain with DA 50 and TF 30 can easilly be a junk domain. On the other hand a domain with da 10 and tf 6 is surely a junk domain (unless lots of links not found by crawlers yet). So yes i would easily trade a DA 40 clean domain for a domain with a link from huffington post and DA 10.

can you tell me some advance about how to check the expired domains?

This is exactly what I've been saying since the introduction of TF/CF and many of the other garbage metrics used in analysis. The problem is that Majestic is already a poor backlink checker, and the TF/CF is metric used to help "fluff" their backlink reports.

In my opinion you need to use a whole bunch of metrics, and unfortunately there isn't any of them that do a good job.

You are right, all my churn and burns look fantastic on DA CF PA TF BS FG KJ TE and all the other shite, however I am guessing you made this thread in search of thanks, as it is a rehashed thread that has been discussed many times. I would guess that if you find a domain with a clean backlink profile, and good stats then that domain is good.
