Wasn't sure where to ask this question so I placed it in OT. If a mod believes it would be better off elsewhere, please move it - thanks!

Before I begin... Yes, I have already searched BHW and G...

I am in the US so I'm sure things are different around the world, which is perhaps why I have yet to find an answer to my question - It appears that I cannot use multiple SIM cards per account/phone card?

Reps at BB, AT&T, TMobile and all gave me the same answer. ANY TIME I switch out a SIM card, I'll have to have it activated on another prepaid phone card. That means, I can get a SIM card for ~$2 but I'll have to pay a minimum of $10 just for the ability to send/receive calls and texts. So roughly ~$15 for every new number. I'm not looking for the answer on how to pay $0.01 per SIM card or opening mass PVAs.

I just want to know... Is it possible to use more than 1 SIM card on a prepaid card? or am I really stuck on paying an activation fee or buying another prepaid card every time I want to use another number? If you don't feel like publicly answering, please send me a PM. I won't share it with the world. I'd just like a solid answer at this point.

thanks!

edit: During my searches, I have found threads where members have mentioned that some countries (e.g. India) provide prepaid SIM cards for relatively low prices. Please keep in mind that I am in the US... Though I'd still like to read your response.

I'm not from the US so that may be the reason but this does not make much sense to me. I'm curious though so I thought I'd reply.

A prepaid card? Do you mean a card that you can use to top up the sim card? If so, then that will most probably be a no, unless I'm missing something.

I can purchase a prepaid card for $15 and a SIM card for $2 = $17 for a phone number.

There are members on this forum saying they have thousands of SIM cards... What I don't understand is, in the US, if I get another SIM card then I'd have to get another prepaid card. It just doesn't make any financial sense...?

Then I read some countries provide prepaid SIM cards, which means they can just insert the SIM and make calls/texts.

This makes a little more sense. No you most likely cannot use one prepaid card for multiple sims, at least not in the UK and I would imagine it to be similar in the US. Unless of course there's some kind of a hack that I don't know about but here in the UK there are sims available that are active out of the box.

Take a look at eBay, do some more research, you should be able to find something.

Can another member please shed some light? Preferably one from the US.
