How do I build trust with my Email List?

I know people say if you get into E-mail marketing that you should be nice to your list and gain their trust. But I'm not sure entirely how to do so... Anyways I was wondering if you lovely people could give me some advice on strengthening my relationship with my lists.

Just provide as much value as possible. Just think about what it would take to keep you happy on another's email list. So when you provide a freebie make sure its actually something they would want and need.
