Hey Buds,

Wanting to dump my land line...(because its $25 mth extra over my DSL bill). If i can dump the land line, THAT WOULD be very Kewl.

I have DSL in my area w/ AT&T. (even though Comcast is faster (i think theirs is t1 line) but because of the complaints for Comcast i have stayed with AT&T (chit).

ANYWAY, I use skype and it works fine...BUT have "never tried a Skype Phone." I also thought of Majic Jack?

QUESTION: Which would be a better setup and Why?

~Thanks for your constructive input...Cheers!

Land line is relatively stable but Skype and Magic Jack are tied to fats Internet connections. Just use them in addition to your land line, because I do not think it is worth to dump it for just a saving of $ 25.00 ( or do you pay your calls over the land line by the minute? )

K.

25* 12 = $300 yr....plus I HAVE TO PAY FOR LD calls!

I've heard good things about skype...and even majic jack. I'm wondering how good they are on DSL?

if you have good up stream, skype is great. Im on it all day long overseas, very rarely have issues.

Mjic jack in quite expensive i suggest you try SKYPE its good and also cheap

skype would definitely be better that majic jack. I have at&t as well and only pay $10/month for the phone line. Maybe because I have the triple play deal!?!

Thanks Buds....i think i'm gonna give Majic Jack a try (its cheaper that Skype) an a buddy has it and his line is crystal clear.

The only thing that concerns me is the speed of ATT DSL. (he has att universe, which is supposed to be faster.)

If you're looking at a landline, I would go with basic talk.

Otherwise, skype has been my favorite - you can be nimble and move around without issues.

What country are you from? I think Skype is probably the cheapest option

Magic Jack makes your phone issues simple and cheaper, for just one annual charge. I've had it for over 5 years, and find it to be the best bang for the buck. Make sure you have a consistent high speed connection, though, or your phone sound quality will suffer.

Been using skype for years. I actually give it out as a mobile number as well. So I can shut off biz calls when I"m not working.

Skype is the best. I've been using this since college and until now i'm still satisfied with their services.
