Is it worth chasing a spot 7 for a new KW

I've found a new keyword an the thing about it is that top 6 is pretty hard. But from 7-10 its pretty easy. How do you handle this kind of situation?

Search volume is around 4k for 1 KW(buying KW) and sales price is around 100, affiliate percentage is 3%

It also depends on the results. The competition may be good, but is the content? Is someone who searches for something really going to find what they want in the first few results?

If the keyword is easy to rank in the position then go for it but always plan on ranking the keyword for the first position. No point in settling for less when you could have more. Go ahead and rank it in the 7th position first then see how you could go higher.

Yea, it depends on what the item is as well. If for example it's selling some generic product and the ones above you are more established / cheaper, then they'll be getting all of the sales. However if yours has something a bit different, you should be able to draw some of the sales away... so if you think you can get to #7 pretty easily, then go for it.

I disagree, number 7 on a keyword with 4000 searches a month really isn't going to bring you much traffic. Then top that off with only $3 per sale. Unless it's just super easy to do. I will normally settle for front page if the keyword gets 50k or more searches, preferably 100k.

Not worth it. That's 130 searches per day. #1 may get 70 clicks per day. May get one sale out of that. For you that #1 spot will be worth about $100/month if you're number one. Seven spot you won't make much at all.

Good advice here! If you can rank at a low cost to yourself, even if you don't make a large amount of income, what you do make may still prove to be helpful to your bank account.

Getting on page 1 should be the purpose of any internet marketer. You could do well even on the 7th spot, if you have better titles.

If you can reach spot #7, you can reach top 3. I know.. the higher you climb the harder it is, but still it's doable.

If you are not shooting for number one, it's like trying to come in second at a race.

There is no money in 4 - infinity except on rare occasions and with massive traffic.

Invariably on my sites the stats I see are.

#1 about 40% of organic search.
#2 about 20%
And then it drops off rapidly down to 1% or less by number seven.

So afaik number seven is a staging post never the goal.
