TF and CF changed drastically after redirecting 404 to homepage

Some days ago I bought a domain with TF:27 and CF:20, all clean. After using the plugin All 404 redirect to homepage to keep the link juice, making the wordpress blog and link back to my money site, now I check in Majestic and it has TF:11 CF:22. How is this possible? Maybe because of the redirect Majestic thinks that the links that pointed to the inner pages of my domains are crap? The domain is indexed in Google now.

Is very strange, now, I check historic index and shows the same TF and CF as now, but not that TF of 27....

Also, some days ago I was bidding on a domain that was clean and good metrics, the TF was around 25, then, the auction was ending and I check again and TF dropped to 15, all the links are the same, the same refering domains...

Knowing the links are daily deleted and new ones installed, I would not see the cause in the redirect, but in simply deletion of links that were pointing to the expired domain, which could be naturally at expired domain, unless you had someone, wanting to cheat you and linked the domain with a boost of authority links just to let them disappear as soon as you bought the domain. Such tactics could be detected when you check all the links for the last 3 months carefully.

Is very strange, I've checked in Ahrefs for lost/new links gained in the last month (the last time I checked the domain and was TF:27) and all still the same, only 1 new link gained from a directory.

I think you could try this issues with a plugin for wordpress, I think there a few out there related to this problematic.

I still would not change any thing now and give it some more time as I had many domains, changing TF daily.
If the domain is indexed, it's not penalized so waiting makes the sense, instead of over-reacting and a changing to many plugins, let it just "sit" down...

One thing: I never link immediately to a money site as soon as I install the PBN and / or refurbish it!
I wait for some time (2-4 weeks) and if all "goes" well, start linking to my money site. I am building PBNs since 2006 and the best what you can do is waiting and patience, the most important strategy, unless you are dealing with churn and burn...

When webmasters discover that a domain has expired, they may delete links on their sites pointing to that expired domain. Therefore, expired domains are more likely to lose links and consequently trust flow and citation flow. Besides, you shouldn't rely on one backlink checker.

Clearly all that happened was that there were lower quality links pointing at subpages, and now those links are going to your root domain - hence the TF of your root domain was negatively affected.

Take a positive spin on it: although your TF might have dropped, it shows again that TF is probably the most frequently updated 'value' to judge a domain. Why your TF dropped? Honestly spoken, I think it could be just some random fluctuation of link loss for example. I wouldn't panic though. What tony_d said is pretty much spot on here, more links are not equal to a better TF. Low crap links being directly pointed to the root could be an issue, which happened with the redirect.
