PBN Questions

Hey Guys,

I've done quite a bit of searching on here to find the answer to my questions but I'm coming up empty.

I'm using scrapebox and Xenu to find old domains.

Some of my questions:

1. Does a domain lose its "juice" if it has been dropped for a few years? (Still has some good links)

2. Do NoFollow Links from high DA/PA websites have any value to a PBN?

3. If OpenSiteExplorer turns up no backlinks with a DA/PA of 1 but searching the URL on google turns up some high quality links, is the website worth it?

4. Since most of these domains are really old they dont have any PR (Like the ExpiredDomains Method would) so how do I guess what a Domains PR would be?

5. What should I look for in DA, PA, CF, TF? All 20+?

6. Are NON-NICHE Specific PBN's still active?

As long as the backlinks are still pointing to the expired domain, you can revive its authority by registering it.

2. Do NoFollow Links from high DA/PA websites have any value to a PBN?

Having just Do-Follow links is a red flag. NoFollow links also pass the authority in the terms of citing related content.

Yes of course. OSE is not Google and their index and metrics are not used by Google.

You don't but you can look at Majestic's TrustFlow and Moz's DA just to give you a rough idea of what the domain's PR would be but again Google doesn't use any of these metrics and PR alone is not the only metric Google uses to rank a site. They just give too much weight to it.

5. What should I look for in DA, PA, CF, TF? All 20+?

Yep.

6. Are NON-NICHE Specific PBN's still active?

Yep. Always will be.

Sigh, there we have the 'you need nofollow links" bullcrap again. No you don't. Only 5% of all links are nofollow, so unless you have tens of thousands of links no nofollow links wouldn't be a statistical significant "red flag" metric anyway.

And there is not a single shred of evidence they pass authority or whatever flavor of the month saying they use for it today. Cut the crap and let's stay at the facts.

I'm not sure why you can't fathom my post but I never said "you need nofollow links". Where did you get that 5% from? I'm sure Wikipedia alone has a lot more than 5% nofollow links.

I'm open to discussion If you think I'm wrong but I wouldn't spend my time with someone who haven't practiced testing nofollow links on authority sites. Just because you haven't noticed any improvements doesn't mean it's not working. If you'd like to test, setup a simple site, get it indexed, track your rankings and get a single nofollow link from Wikipedia and check and post your rankings here.

A few more questions...

If a site has previously been used as a PBN (Site dropped, content is different on Archive.org) is it useless? Dont touch it?

Are sites with blog comment links on HIGH DA sites worth anything?

I'm finding a lot of 15-18 DA and 25+ PA sites.... is there a formula that incorporates DA,PA,CF,TF? Like DA+PA adds up to 40 or something?

I'd clearly stay away from dropped PBN's like that. Most probably those domains are manually deindexed by Google.

Blog Comments, especially ******** comments will definitely get you a major boost. Just make sure the comment page doesn't have tons of outgoing(external) links. Again, it depends on that specific page's authority. The more the comments, the less juice it'll pass to that expired domain.

PA & CF can be easily manipulated. Better stick with DA/TF when evaluating authority. I'd value TF the most compared to all these metrics except the pagerank. I don't use any formula but when manually evaluating a domain, I'd also look at the MozRank and compare it with the TF/CF. It's just my own finding though.

Domain age carries very little weight in their Algorithm. Several SEO companies generally thinks and spreads misinformation about the domain age factor. What it really was is that if a domain has been registered way back before 1998 or 2000 or whatever year, the chances are higher that the domains/pages linking to them have high Pagerank thus passing it to the aged domain you have and increase its Pagerank too. Think of it like an inverted pyramid where the narrow bottom is when Google started giving Pagerank to the sites and passing it to all the sites in higher levels. As the pyramid grows wider and wider, the Pagerank starts to dilute, leaving all the sites with PageRank N/A out of the equation and counting only the sites that have Pagerank as authority site. That is not so the case as of 2014 as they started adding more algorithmic equation to measure a site's authortiy leaving domain age to count 0.00001%(Imaginary number) on their equation.

Coming back to domain age, if your domain is aged and if you're lucky, it may have struck somewhere in the middle of the pyramid holding some juicy pageranks and that is only if it has backlinks from pages with pagerank. I wouldn't give too much thought into it for now.

They "may" also count how many times a domain has been dropped/re-registered. It's better not to worry about the sandbox as we don't really care about the expired domain i.e., PBN site's ranking shuffles.

As long it has good metrics and get re-indexed, you're good to go.

I said the nofollow links gets you boost in terms of relevant content when cited by/from authority sites. If you think it's not working for you, then post what you did exactly rather than opposing other's opinions. I can't help if you still can't comprehend my post and I just had a look at all your posts and it seems like you're disagreeing with several other members too so I won't continue the discussion with you either especially when you preach what Matt Cutts said on Webmaster video. To make it easier to understand, let me ask, have you ever heard of local SEO? There won't be such thing if Google ignored all the nofollow'd citations from top directories.

Let me close this discussion by saying, Nofollow links, when coming from relevant high authority pages are worth a lot more than a do-follow link from irrelevant page/domain.
