Have had an account with them since 08. Haven't done much volume with them since 2011. Just started running payments through them again and now have a "Reserve Restriction" on my account which holds 15% of every incoming transaction I receive for 180 days "in case there are chargebacks." There hasn't been 1 dispute or chargeback on my account and no indication that there will be in the future. They say this is to protect them (and me, lol). Is this a customary practice they use or have I been "specially selected" for this odd restriction? Any info/input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a bank verified account and it went idle for a few months and when I started making income only again they froze my account asking me where all this money was coming from. Just replied Online seller, poof! account was back to normal

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, mine was limited at first and I had to talk with them for about an hour and they reactivated it, but with this new reserve shit, lol.

Do you work alone? Have there been transfers to/from another business partner account recently?

I had this situation where I was in a JV and my partner was doing some shady stuff which I didn't know, then a while later he's blocked and Paypal limited my own account, perhaps thinking I'd wipe it clean thinking I was part of the scheme. Took me a while to find out.

No biz partners or anything. I guess just the sudden increase in volume is what they are worried about, even though I have zero disputes or chargebacks. They say it's to protect me too, LOL.

I would say after 30-60days, to call them and claim that you are an online business. Domain, email attached to it, etc. It could not hurt to try and get that restriction removed. I have yet to see it.

This reserve shit accumulates pretty quick. They just slapped me with it yesterday and that 15% is starting to add up, lol.

I have noticed this when you do LARGE numbers out of the blue. You said the last time you have used them heavily was in 2011. Well thats why

This is how paypal works Elliot. Anytime your transaction amounts increases drastically you can expect them to become nurturing cyber moms only protecting you. So give them a call and state your purpose in hopes that they at least have one person working for them with common sense.

Well they say protecting "you".....but they are also protecting other peoples money too. Because to them, "how does thousands of dollars come in from no where"

I never understood how holding my money protects me? It only f**** me lol

That is the complete stupidity of a PP rep making $10 per hour. They don't know shit about business or business needs.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Yeah, I'll wait 30 days and see if they can lower it to 10%. Maybe after another 30 days ask for another 5% reduction. This shit is adding up fast though...it's now at $1100 in reserve.
