Hi people,

I know these threads already exists, but mine is really weird. So i have this website, i am working on it since 11. august, so that means every day a new article. On 17 august my main keyword jumped to #30. Since then, it is still stuck on that place! I have built a PBN, and even paid a lot of money to get a do-follow link on a competitors high authority website, so you should think my site would get a boost in Google.. One of my other keywords (i dont really focus on) jumped on 24 october to #20, but it also stuck on that place.

The only problem is that my site had a previous owner, and he built 4-6 spam links. I deleted all of them, but i don't know if Google remembers it.

What do you think i should do? Continue with this website, or should i create a new one? It's hard for me because i have put a lot of money and time in this project..

Thanks!
Mark

Cant tell much without knowing the actual competition, but have you tried checking the first 5 website's backlink profile .If your's is solid than them then it might be over optimization onsite or a could be a penalty too.

There are some website ranking better than me which aren't focussing on this keyword, they use some completely different keywords. I know the top-5 got better links than me, but i think the top 10 is reachable. I think it's strange to rank 3 months for the same place in Google. Not even a fluctuation..

I just checked one competitor on #13 and he has some blog comments and 1 or 2 pbn links, content is also shit.. i definitely have to outrank that one..

I had a similar experience with a new site that was built in april 2013 and left for a year with 0 backlinks, got around 20 visitors per day from long-tail keywords. In July this year I started building some backlinks to it (and kept adding content regularly) from my own PBN made specifically for this site and it went up quickly for it's main keyword but stopped around #20-24 in the serps. About 2 weeks ago the site finally jumped up onto the first page. When I was trying to figure out why my site wasn't moving in the serps I read a blog post that showed the same problem.
http://doseoyourself.com/google-sandbox-seo/ (not my blog)

I'd suggest that you keep adding links and creating content for another couple of months and see what happens.
Good luck

well it most probably onsite over optimization try using some long tail KW and variations of the Keyword rather than the actual KW then let it index ,you might see a postive serp boost.

That is indeed very similar C0bbz, i just have exactly the same problem. Your answer gives me hope, thanks!

If you have deleted those spam links then it will not have a negative impact on your website.

And now suddenly my website is rising from #30 to #18, it's like Google is reading this haha ;)

Hello,

First of all check your on-page SEO for the targeted keywords. And compare it the top 3 competetitors. Make some changes if needed.

Then check your backlinks profile and check the same of your competitors. What DA/PA they have .
And this way you can see what type of changes you need to do to get the top ranking.

Thanks

One thing you may or may not have thought about is page speed, does your page load quickly? test it with google page speed insights. Slow loading site will be affected in the rankings. Im sure you got it sorted, but its something i overlooked until recently so thought i would mention it

No one can help you in this without checking comp/site/link structure. if you can trust me or any other good member then pm him site url. That's only way to get real advice.

Check sites ranking above you and find what your site lacks

Yea i have 85/100 page speed test on Google Insights, and that's one of the best of the top 20 :)

Also check your anchor text is not over optimised. Your main keywords should ideally be below 5% of total anchor text for best results these days.

Just curious, what's your ranking today?

It's bouncing from #18 to #22. It seems that every keyword needs to get trust from Google, as they all jump up separately..

Nice. Continue adding quality content and try to avoid off-site seo. Eventually your effort and investment will pay off.
