Case Study Continued: Tier 2 Link Building

Great study, bookmarked it for later read

Thanks

That is with everything you do in SEO these days, it is all a risk.... when you have something that works you need to milk it before it is gone

But if you're going to milk it before it's gone you might as well send the links right to the money site. If I'm setting up a tiered PBN, I'm looking long term, and don't really want those penalized. Of course you could just diversity. But all I'm saying is the results are great but be prepared to lose those results. Some of the other services may have not had as great results, but maybe they don't get deleted/penalized.

Great case study. I'm also wondering what is happening with your money site on which these web 2.0 (tier 1 links) were directed?

Anyway, great share, thanks.

I was ordering lover service too
But i point it to my money site
It rank And it get tank in few months
Want to try it to my tier 2 link now
Thanks for remembering me his servuce

Hi Guys,

Going to try to get through the questions with some limited time. I will get down the list just give me a chance.

The only issue here is who knows how long the results will last. The network could be penalized in a week and it's money down the drain.

Yes it get penalized. It could also stay up for the next two years. The point of this was to study the linking power of Tier 2 services here on BHW. I think I did a pretty effective job with this. If you want to study the LONGEVITY of links here on BHW I'd be happy to help you/give you some ideas. About time somebody did that. However, only problem with that is by the time you finish those services might be gone, no longer working, etc.

I only checked the rankings 1 month AFTER the link building stopped. So the idea of it being penalized in a week is a little far fetched. By now it's already been a few months and still there. Don't be so doom and gloom and get out there and build some links. Fear doesn't help.

Great case study you have here. Thanks for sharing. I just have a question. Have you pointed the best ranking web 2.0s to your money site? If so, how is your money site ranking?

Hi,

Glad you appreciate the study; it's rewarding to see it helps people. As far as pointing the best Web 2.0's to my money site the answer is no, I haven't. I have two reasons for this.

1) I'm rolling out a huge updated money site. These are for AFTER that's rolled out (6 months eta) to give it a boost. I'm just planning in advance.
2) I just threw a ton of links at these properties. No way am I going to link them. My money site is gold I don't want to give up. I consider my web 2.0's to be like wine. They're only good once they're aged.

That's my take on it. I will link them eventually and I likely won't report back. I'm just trying to help some people save money here.

Can you divulge how you set up the anchors?

Great case study, lovers service is the shit.

Hi,

I'm thinking you're asking about the tier 2 anchors to my web 2.0's, rather than my web 2.0's to my money site. Here's how I set up the anchors. I mention the anchors in the first case study, but I'll recap.

1. Come up with 25 keywords I want my money site to rank for
2. Use exact match anchors for my Tier 2 links, pointing at my web 2.0's.

The idea is to give my tier 1 links (the web 2.0's) relevance for the terms I want my money site to rank for. The fact that my tier 1's (these web 2.0's) ARE ranking for my target money site keywords means two things in my opinion...

1) Google considers them relevant for those keywords. Otherwise they wouldn't dominate the first page for those search terms
2) When I link them to my money site they will work.

Hope I understood this correctly, and hope this answers your questions.

Cheers

Great post! Very detailed and informative.

What I would like to know is how long after you purchased the services did you check the rankings?

I apologize if I somehow missed it in the OP

I waited 1 month after the completion of the link building, similar to the first case study I did. I didn't want to go longer (linkloss, ban possibilities), but I also felt shorter wouldn't do any favours as it takes time for the links to get indexed obviously.

I understand if you missed it... it's a long post :-)

Nice case study, although I think it would be more relevant if the web2.0's wouldn't have any previous links.

I looked at the rankings from the previous case study (I checked them before I started this one) and I assure you they aren't influencing the current rankings. Most of the web 2.0's from the last case study didn't even rank. Now ones that were awesome are barely visible, and ones that didn't even get indexed from the last set of links are dominating. Trust me when I say it wouldn't have made a difference. Stuff that wasn't ranking at all is now ranking. Stuff that was ranking best in the last case study is now barely visible. The last case study didn't affect this one.

Fantastic work, journeys and case studies are probably the best thing I'm always looking forward to read. A big "Thank you" to the owners who gave away their services for free, case studies are probabably BHW's goldmine :)

Yes I totally agree. I had to pay for a couple of these ($250 worth or so), but without those service providers here willing to put their money where their mouth is, this wouldn't have happened. The best way you can say thank you is supporting them.

Cheers

BTW i have seen similar service, arent these blogspot FBN posts?

I might have missed the answer, but are you going to links these 2.0s to your money site? Any concern on doing it on your part?

Can I point these Tier 2 links at my PBNs (Instead of Web 2.0) to power them up? Using Lover's services?

So what did you use as tier 1s? Web2.0s? And what did you track with tier 2s? Web2.0 rankings or money site rankings?

Don't be lazy. Read the full case study and the background.

Agree with this. Lover's blog posting service is cheap, however. It's also a good idea to remember the web 2.0s' logins so if the network does get penalized, it's just a matter of simply removing the links from the web 2.0.

It's only prudent to have a method to control any possible damage. Keeping complete control over your web 2.0 network is the best way to do this. You don't want to get stuck with links that you can't control especially if you're using questionable techniques to boost them.

nivakchot Read the previous case study bro. Its not so long. There is a link to it in this post. It tells you exactly what he used and more. Read it all if you want to learn. I know its really helped me

Thanks for pointing that out to him. I was going to flame him but after seeing this I decided to take it easy.

Looks good, so cheap blog posting services should do the trick for tier 2s then.

My study suggests they should indeed do the trick. I'd honestly recommend the first 2 services. Possibly spaced out. Maybe for a touch of diversity instead of just high PR links which Google might flip out over eventually though I can't say for certain.

I have ordered Lover's PBN links before to a Web 2.0 and it did rank it but those results don't last

I'm going to keep track of these for a while. Do you mind sharing *how* they didn't last? Did your web 2.0's get banned? Did they eventually slide down the serps? Did they get deindexed? Little detail goes a long way.

I have tried his services many times and most of the time when I use them as Tier 2 they work very good

I can't agree more. His service is awesome and at this point I have no reason to not wholeheartedly recommend it. I'm getting it for some more tier 1's that I have.

You have nerve. After suggesting on my other thread I am doing these case studies to promote my own services (I have none), you now come here to clog up my new thread with speculation. Get out

Lovers service is powered by FBL. Use them as tier 2 links ONLY. That networks days are coming to an end as theyre being offered by 3-4 different providers on this forum alone. I've personally been hit with penalties for using them as Tier 1 links. Great for T2 + though. If you dig around, you'll find them way cheaper than Lovers prices. Thanks for the case study!

Great case study. I'm also wondering what is happening with your money site on which these web 2.0 (tier 1 links) were directed?

Hi,

I addressed this above. I am building these links for an up and coming project. They're not getting hooked up until

1) The new website is launched
2) They've sat for 6 months or a year to weed out any potential penalties and bans.

Also, I doubt I will report back once I hook them up. If you find something awesome outing it on a public forum like this is suicide.

I hope matt cutt is not reading this thread and nuke down lover network :/. Hey matt if you read this we blackhatter got a wife and child to feed.

I somehow doubt I'm big enough fish for Cutt's to care about. I'm ranking a bunch of web 2.0's for average terms. He doesn't care about me.

BTW i have seen similar service, arent these blogspot FBN posts?

I doubt these are FBN posts. The quantity he runs is pretty high to do it through FBN IMHO, but maybe you should ask him. However I really don't know.

Cheers

thanks man you have given me impetus to proceed with this link building method!

Welcome to SEO 2014 bud

Blogger went from 17 -> 5 and after a month or two it slid back and then it went into the 40s and one keyword was gone. The blogger isn't updated anymore though. It's a great way to churn and burn but for Tier 2 I still see it as a temporary gain.

Very interesting case study. I've also been using blog network posts in my tier 2, but as I usually use GSA as well I haven't been able to distinguish which is actually more effective.
