Well, I basically have a french site, been building links since one month, nice and slow, and I've heard that submitting the site in french directories will help rank my site better in google.FR, so I got a few PR 4+ directories and submitted my site to them. Problem is that on 5 november, I submitted my site to http://www.avesnois.info (which is PR 4). That day I had 38 reffering pages, after 2 days (today), 5,400 referring pages, DAMN!!! I'm very afraid this site will soon get f***ed up if I don't do something about this.

I've searched like crazy how the hell can I remove my site from that directory but I don't know how. Can you help me out guys? Is there any method or something ... ? I know there were some services who were removing backlinks but I'm not sure, maybe you guys can help me out.

Thanks! :)

Removing links one by one will require you contacting the site that the link is on. I would suggest that you boot up good ol' disavow tool.

I didn't submit my site to Google Webmasters Tool because everybody said that it's not good if I do black hat SEO. I guess I can't do that as for now.

Notify the owner of the website, that kind of liking isnt doing him any good either, may be a CMS screwup.

Look at other people listed there and see what happened to their site. Do they have all these links? If so do their rankings suffer?

How do I contact the owner? I don't see any Contact page on that site. Tried to look on whois for his domain but it looks so weird, somebody can help me out please?

Thanks a lot!

Some help please? I think my site just got hit ... or not sure? But since 12 hours it's out of top 120.

Your site did not get hit. It's just a Google dance which usually happens when Google discovers lots of backlinks to your site within a short period of time. Surely, there must be a way to contact the owner of the directory as that's the only way to get 'em links removed. You'll have to disavow them if you can't remove them.

If all the backlinks are from the same domain I wouldn't worry about it one bit.
Of course if you see a sudden drop and don't see it as a google dance then I would use the disavow tool to remove the domain links.
Simply input:
domain: thedomain.com
In your disavow file.

Just found the contact form on their website finally. I left them an e-mail, will see what happens. I'll keep this thread updated.

Thanks a lot guys! Cheers!

OK guys ... they didn't respond to my mail, seems like the only option left is to insert the website in Google Webmasters and then disavow that entire domain?

I still hear people are saying stay away from google tools and things like that ... and the site is still dancing like hell.

Does the disavow tool completely wipe all backlinks or are you able to choose which?

Thanks mate. I think I may be disavowing a few links soon. I don't know what made me think it would wipe you clean.
