Hi guys,

I setup a site in April and didn't get a chance to do anything with it.

I started building links about 10 days ago. The site is indexed when I search site:mysite.com but not even coming up when I put in the site name as "my site".

I know I only started building links but it should be coming up for it's own name by now right?

It is not a hugely competitive niche or anything either so I am kind of stumped.

Should I just keep building links?

Thanks guys.

Perhaps "my site" is high competition keyword, case in which it's normal, especially for a new domain. Keep building high quality links to your website (and I mean HIGH QUALITY, not Web 2.0 crap) and eventually it will show up on the first page or even top3, depending on what the name is.

As the user above said, it may be that you "site name" is a high competitive term.

Apart from that, on site SEO is of paramount importance before jumping to off site SEO (a.k.a link building).

I think my on site is pretty decent.

I have yoast SEO installed and about 300 words of content on the homepage. I know people will say I could do with more content but it is an ecommerce store and some of my competition have no content (just featured products!).

You should be trying to figure a way for your site to deliver more than your competitors, otherwise why would goofle single your site out as special in the niche. What sets you above everyone else?

You need to carry on building links for several weeks, focusing more upon good quality links with appropriate anchor texts.

My site is a much better design and more trust worthy looking!

I will keep building links and see what happens.

May be a case of too soon to get a kick from the links I guess.

Thanks again .

try 700 words of content. i ve seen they rank faster and maintain the keyword density

Search for the name of the site without any spaces, for example, 'knifeguide' if your site's name is 'knife guide'. It should appear on the first page.

I just tried that there and it is on page 3 for "mysitename".
