I had always assumed that because Google Images only displays the images, and does not actually host the images itself, Google is not infringing the copyright of the copyright holder. So search engines are able to display content (images, text, and videos) without infringing someone's copyright.

Okay I've looked and there are more pics of girls with creative commons than I expected, great. But is it enough just having the photographer's permission? isn't there stuff like they had to have signed a model release form etc? or shouldn't i worry about that?

would any of you know about any laws when making a fake profile? even with fake name etc is there still risk of impersonation laws?

Actually the model release question also raises a couple other things to be concerned about. A lot of model releases and creative commons licenses only allow non-commercial use. I doubt it's something you'll ever have a run in about with your particular business, but it definitely is a real issue.

As far as using the images for fake profiles, there actually are laws about that in various countries where it's considered fraud. If you just set up the profile and leave it at that then you'll probably never have a problem arise from it, but again it is a real issue. If you actually plan to use the profiles to interact with other members then it could be construed as ewhoring, which is also something that can be legally considered fraud in a lot of countries.

I doubt that you'll really have too many problems from it though, unless you actually are committing outright fraud in some manner. Otherwise it would pretty much take the actual owner of one of the pics seeing it and deciding to take action. If you're at least making an effort to use images with common permission then you probably won't experience any problem. If you really wanted to make absolutely sure though you could always hire a photographer and a bunch of hot models for a day with a contract that you own the images for any use. If you look for amateurs that could be done a lot cheaper than it sounds.
