[Journey] Making a site and monetizing by Adsense/Amazon

Hello every and welcome to my journey thread!

The last few days i have been reading Adsense and Amazon journeys/threads on BHW and I decided to dive into IM by starting my very own Authority site.

Keep in mind I am a total noob and most likeley my first project is doomed to fail. I am not afraid to fail, I know i will eventually succeed.

First I will be making an Authority site that will be monetized mainly by Adsense (Have to apply for Adsense). I will also throw some Amazon affiliate links here and there. I have picked a niche and wrote down couple keywords which i will target.

I already have picked a niche and picked two or three keywords which i think are fairly easy to rank. I will try and find additional keywords by writing articles and finding related topics so to speak (This will make interlinking easy).

I am a full time student and work couple hours a week, so won't have much time to work on this project but i won't stop until i make some $ from Adsense. I will try to post 10 HQ articles weekly, more if the time will allow me.

The plan is:

  [*=center]Making 7.5$/day enables me to outsource 1 article daily, speeding up the process of growing the site or even starting other projects.

My budget is 75$, which should be enough to cover basic things such as web hosting, domain name and a logo for my site.
I have purchased a domain name (branded) and hosting. I am waiting for the website to go online, when it's online i will pick a nice theme and publish my first 5 articles (currently have 3).

Expenses:
Domain name (10$)
Hosting (10$)

I promise to update this journey once a week until i become successful at IM.

You mentioned in your title that you would monetize with adsense and amazon. But in post you did not mention amazon at all. Was it typo or you only will use adsense? Just curious.

Big mistake. Stick with one, either adsense or amazon. There are big differences between these 2 websites.

I forgot to mention it, my first website will be mainly monetized by Adsense but i will throw some Amazon links here and there when i am listing or comparing products in my niche.

Big mistake. Stick with one, either adsense or amazon. There are big differences between these 2 websites.

I know, but it won't hurt placing some Amazon affiliate links when I am comparing or naming some products in my niche, I guess. Instead of just naming them i might as well link out to amazon. If they decide to buy it great, if not a cookie is placed and they might buy something else.

In the future i will make an Amazon site that is focused on comparing products and reviewing them, but in this case i don't think it will harm putting amazon links where i can.

The website is still not online, i updated the DNS yesterday but it's still offline. I guess i will have to wait a little longer.

Tasks for this week:
Finish the website (This includes graphics, choosing a theme, installing widgets, ...)
Write 10-15 articles

Next update will come at the end of this week or if something drastic happen i might update sooner.

I don't know if I am approaching this authority site the right way, but once i have 50-75 articles i will reevaluate my progress and see if it is worth to continue this project.

Next week i want to have a total of 25 articles on my site.

Total expenses 47$

Week 2

I did not manage to get 25 posts this week due to a busy schedule at school, every day i have class to 6 and then 1 hour on the train to get home.
I currently have 20 posts on my site and I still aim for 50 by the 7th of December.
I have made some mistakes, I made the wrong theme selection, the layout of my posts is ugly and I have most likely over optimized my articles. All my posts are indexed but they are not ranking.

I have gotten 3 Amazon clicks, I don't know how or why but someone must have clicked the amazon links. I can't wait my my first Adsense click or Amazon conversion.

The next site i will build will be purely focused on Amazon or Adsense, I also am thinking of building something like Viral Nova but I might be too late to hop on the "Viral Site" train.

Honestly i would like someone with experience building authority sites to take a look at my site and perhaps give me some pointers.
