[HELP] do i need to pay hosting i dint use and auto renew itself

Here is my story
I bought hosting from a page named Stacksocial - they had 90% off deal with DreamHost - deal was buyer gets 1 year of hosting and 2 domains free (.com and .me)
I tested that hosting for a 3-4 days period and later never used it, i gaved that .com free registration to a friend maybe 2 months ago and .me never used
Few days back i got email that they tryed to charge me 128.00 $ for a new year of hosting - i dint recive any email asking me do i or dont want to renew (also they had my phone number ...)

I dont want to pay 120 $ for something i didnt use and i wrote to their support they said i do have to pay - first it was 15$, than 16$ today 20,5$

What to do? i Live in Croatia and i think they cant make me pay here (not sure for that)
To sum it up - I pay for 1year - dont use almost anything - they autorenew and try to make me pay

any suggestion is welcome

Well they never asked me do i want auto-renew, guess its set by default - they could call me or send me an email so i have time to cancel it on time - this is just dirty play on their side

I dont know US law and how can they make me pay in Europe - just dont see that (i bet they cant do anything), i dont like to owe anybody anything but im really mad at them and dont wanna pay

I would try to login and change all the contact information to a fake person.

If it doesn't work, you should ask yourself how far you want to go. (are you willing to go to court and fight them?)

Unfortunately they don't have to call you, since it's usually a default feature that you accept at some point of ordering.For example (this is from Namecheap, and they have a very fair and straight forward way of asking you whether or not you want it)

But some companies do it like you have described, and force you to pay. Where is the company from? Is it a US company? You might be safe if you can stay in the European courts, but the US courts are a totally different game.

Im not sure they can/will go to court since im not US citizen - you think they will ?

For that sum of money, I would not unless I had a surefire case against you. Then they can have you pay all the legal costs and everything if they get you to US court.

From the quick research I did, they would be able to take you to court in the US, but you might be able to ignore it, depending on the laws and legislation of your country. Highly doubt it comes to this if you decide not to pay, but I'd still consult a lawyer. They might be able to help you decide.

Though their fees would be worth the amount you "owe" them for the hosting.

It sucks not paying attention to details, now that you mentioned it I remember I have an account at 1&1, I should check it out.
Back to you, there's not much you can do. I would pay them, even though it's not fair... I don't think they would sue you for that, but why risk it?

I had the same problem with ipage. I contacted the support they suspended my hosting account and I got my money back.
btw. ipage is the biggest crap
