inb4 lots of people start recommending their buddies basement servers, hosting pages with misspellings and hosts with anon whois info that got regged 3 months ago.
My recommendations:
Servers: Hetzner (cheap, unfortunately not adult stuff). Server4you (3rd rate bandwidth but unbeatable on price).
VPS: Server4you, Linode (ultra fast), DigitalOcean (basically identical to Linode).
Hosting: Webair (large fast adult host that have been around forever). Stablehost (cheap, legit UK host with chilled verification process).
Bulletproof for warez and similar: Koddos

My favorite hosts are Digital Ocean and Amazon. Why? Because they allow me to scale up the resources as my sites grow.

Godaddy is only for toddlers and noobs. Once you grasp the idea about hosting and its features, you'll realize how much they suck and run high up the hill if you hear the word Godaddy again in your life.

I started with godaddy as my first host, they have alot of customers so you have to wait in line to speak to someone through chat which sometimes can take a while, the shared servers are not that great at least back when i was using them, also they will delete your site without notice if you break the TOS. To top it off they steal domains, so dont look for available domains through godaddy.

We like to separating hosting from registrar for more anonymity. It's ben said Godaddy even feeds priate whois to google and others. Also, yes hard to beat 5 buck digital ocean vps... if you have it configured right it scales multitudes greater on traffic... and is faster with the SSD.
