Arvixe was purchased by EIG on October 31st 2014 - another good host going down in flames.

Are they the same ppl that own hostgator etc?
i have had an ok experience with them so far.

all big hosting providers are the same though, very impersonal support, but normally* pretty stable as they have big infrastructure in place.

I highly doubt HostWinds would even be invited as a spectator to the ball game, they are a small fish in comparison to the companies EIG has been buying - EIG bought two companies this quarter for a total of 77 Million - I don't think HostWinds is even on the map by comparison.

You are apparently the only one, I used HostGator back in the day and even then their server performance was "Ok", but far from awesome. In today's world where Google takes page speed into their rankings hosting with someone by EIG will certainly not be helping you out.

well I have just read it in the morning too. Arvixe has been a good one, hope that they will still being good after this acquisition.
