Hey

It seems that craigslist has finally stopped the vacation auto responder, because its not working for me anymore with people emailing me threw craigslist, anyone else notice this?

I haven't noticed any problems. Did you check the settings on your gmail page and make sure its still turned on? Also could you be getting messages from the same people more than once? Gmail vacation response won't send a message to the same person for 4 days after they originally emailed you.

I think there was an issue when people emailed you using the anonymous email address craigslist supplies you with. I simply hide my email address. Then in the ad body I put "Email me at [email protected]" That way, the interested person has to manually set up an email. I'm not sure if there really is a problem with people using craigslist's anonymous emails, I just noticed my Gmail vacation responder wasn't sending to everyone.

So what your saying is from your tests that if anyone emails someone at a Craigslist email, it wasn't getting through?

It seemed that way, I believe when they click that anonymous email it set them up in their email provider with a subject line that was something like "Craigslist: then the ad headline". I noticed that those would not send out. So I hid my email altogether and put a plain text one in the body copy. However this is sometimes not a good idea if you piss people off. I was running a cpa campaign through mine and there were a few occasions where people would submit my email address to the campaign landing page. Thus filling my inbox with a TON of spam. Also, using that autoresponder, I got flagged and removed in like 30 minutes.

To use the vacation responder you need to hide your email, and place a gmail in the body of the ad.

If you use the CL anon system the reply to address is a CL email and the mail will bounce.

If you have outlook express or windows mail just use that as an auto responder. You can set it to check your mail and reply whenever you want it to. I just wait till I get enough responses that I want then go into windows mail, hit send and receive and it replys to all of my new mail.

I do the same thing. This also makes it look more natural than a quick response and you get to keep your ad up longer before people flag it. Anyone not doing it this way - do it! gmail has a tutorial in help on how to do this and it only takes like 2 minutes.

IT doesnt send to @craigslist emails , ive done some test :(

Yeah, I have tested this using both the g-mail autoresponder by itself and setting up a gmail pop account through windows mail and using the windows mail autoresponder and it still doesn't work!

Try putting a gmail in the ads, then have that gmail forward ALL emails to a second gmail or whatever with a auto responder, I think that might work. If not use Outlook with a auto response like others said, should not have problems there.

I wish I could find a good delayed autoresponder method for Mac, I've heard of outlook express being able to autorespond at intervals but I don't know of a free solution for Mac.

Matt try outlook then, everythings free if you look at the right places lol ;)

kaloyan, seems like that would work yea, but i think its @craigslist itself no?

because it sends like the first two then it doesnt.

I might create an auto responder bot then :P

I just ran into this problem. I was MANUALLY copy and pasting responses to @cl emails from gmail. And a bunch of them bounced back, and now google locked my account for 24 hours :-( Maaaaaan does this suck!

EDIT:

Upon further investigation, most of the emails were just simply rejected from gmail.
