I have a paypal account which is premier and verified. For some stupid reason years ago i opened a fake paypal account under a friends name with a made up dob. I randomly receive emails to my gmail with promotions and stuff but have neither tried to log into this account or anything also because i dont remember thecpassword and answer to sec questions. The problem is i received an email that some third party tried to log into the account and it got limited so i was asked to change the password and sec. questions... so i was wondering what happens if:
A) I just do nothing and dont pay attention to the email (its under my friends name)
B) can my real paypal account get limited for 180 days and could they link them?

If your doing something stupid or if the account is on negative status it will be linked. They are using MAC address, Browser and IP address checking all the time and if your balance is on negative your account will get to the 180 yellow status

do not ever do it :) if the account had no credit card linked and has no money in it never do it

PayPal DO NOT use MAC address tracking. Stop posting rubbish

Agree with craigpulman. No browser on the planet can detect your MAC address, neither site, lol (excl. if you have installed Java, that crap).

ONLY software/program, like TeamSpeak 3, TeamViewer or so - can detect your MAC address, they generally can see your whole hardware. That why you even get banned on ANY TS Server, or overuse your TV ID, then definitely you must change the MAC + uninstall the software + manually remove all the logs/temp files, and install it again (for TS - of course changing the IP; for TV - not needed, the ID will be changed automatically). Few examples.

About the situation from the 1st post - both accs might be already linked if you've used the same browser and cookies, tho. If you really want to know this, call PP and ask if your acc is linked with someone else, but use your creativity to ask them using other words, of course.

GL.

The MAC address is a hardware related info, not software related. Even the crap Java can't get and leak/expose the MAC address (both PP and eB don't use Java, tho).

No, you shouldn't trust, you must trust it.
