I stopped reading at "quit your job as soon as possible".

Whilst I do agree with your "work hard" statement, I also strongly believe that a lot of people are morons. If they don't have a clear set of instructions, they won't know their left from their right. They will never make it in the IM world, and quitting their job will just lead to them having to find another job after they have realised they suck at not being told what to do.

I'd say rather use your spare time (evenings, weekends) to pursue an online project. If it works for you, scale it up and quit your job when you're confident.

Only 1% of people will make it whether in IM or not... this post was meant to be a wake up call to that 1%.

And all the best to them. I'm just saying, no one knows if they are part of that 1% or not, until they actually succeed. Since the majority will fail, it's not really in their best interests to quit their jobs, in my personal opinion.

Na I knew I was in the 1% long before quit my job. Didn't know how, when, where or what... but I knew. If you got it, if it's in you... you know it.

... I'd rather make $30k/year and work for myself than make $200k/year at some stupid job....

And here's my motivation for today as I'm aiming to quit my job!
I've set my goals... and the moment I achieve them I'm quitting!

The freedom to manage your time and spent more moments with your family is the most precious thing, that you cannot buy with money!

I like it.. the moment when you say "why i'm still reading this thread"... and not doing something for MY LIFE?
