We are a cross section of society like any other.

My initial feelings were not good. Calling yourself "GodOfSEO" rankled a bit (I'm not religious, it just struck me as fucking arrogant)
But he seemed to get some stuff done. The brag of his early stuff was transparent, but his network did sell for over 50k a few weeks back. Not a fortune, but proof that at least some of actions had substance.

Here in the UK, the law is in a state of almost paranoia to get anything associated with sex abuse. They dropped the ball several times in recent months (Bradford child prostitution ring among others) - then there's "Operation Yewtree" that at one point saw the UKs most popular soap opera almost become a female only affair as just about every major male cast member was accused of something.

Who knows what will happen. Maybe one of the many who were making threats against him framed him - not hard to send a fake file over as something else or spoof requests for dodgy stuff from his IP address. Not saying that was what happened, but in the end he was not a popular little boy.

And let's face it - a little boy is all he is. Barely 18, and like many teenagers full of confidence and bluff. For good or bad, guilty or innocent, this will bring him down to earth.

They would require a substantial amount of evidence to charge, correct? And they would require a reason to put him on remand.

The police would usually charge someone when they believe that they have enough evidence to secure a conviction.

He was charged with a serious offence and that is enough to put him on remand. Not everybody with kiddie pictures are held on remand. They must have found some serious shit on his computer!

In the U.S., schools and many older people try to teach that only the U.S. has Miranda rights laws and innocent until proven guilty, and every other country has laws that make people guilty until proven innocent.

I heard that they don't even teach evolution in some schools! I don't know how much truth there is in that though.

I know your post wasn't directed toward me, but I actually mentioned in the post right above your post that the UK may handle people convicted of possessing child pornography differently than the United States (e.g solitary confinement), so if they were isolated from other prisoners, rape would an improbable situation unless a prison guard developed an inexplicable urge to penetrate him.

Edit: I just found an interesting article that mentions the under-reporting of rapes in UK prisons (which is common in the US, too) due to the intolerant culture in such environments. You should read it, too!

He copied content from other blogs and twisted it around a little bit, that's nothing new. You'd be amazed how many self-proclaimed top bloggers copy content from Backlinko or Viperchill, and don't actually test anything by themselves.

There are shitloads of SEO & marketing blogs out there, but most of them are crap with zero to little value. Nowadays people just copy content, twist it around and try to discredit successful bloggers and steal their readers. I know a guy that wrote probably more than 500k words on his SEO & marketing blog and earned just couple of pennies out of it. Still he has the balls to discredit people like Patt Flynn, John Chow and others.

Everyone wants to be a baller way before they stop sucking on mama's tits.

Same rules apply. Innocent until proven guilty and we do have a right to silence.
The addition to the Miranda rights "If you fail to say something that you later rely on in court" was added, but doesn't prevent you from being as silent as you like - in practice in fact silence as a defence is far more likely to succeed in the UK than in the USA if you check the defence stats.

Scritty, I am going to have to pull you up here. I do not generally advertize the facts, but I have been in prison in four different states. California, Kansas, Nevada, and Utah. I have been to more trials than you could imagine. I also have a paralegal certificate from Blackstone and have fought cases pro se to the US appellate courts. I have other University degrees, but they are not relevant in this discussion.

What I tell you about people actually being guilty until proven innocent in the US is the de facto practice of law in the US. Miranda warnings mean absolutely nothing. People are convicted of crimes five days a week in the absence of Miranda warnings. Motions to dismiss are seldom granted on the basis that some cop failed to mirandize a person.

The criminal justice system in the US is currently practiced so that 98 percent of all charges crimes are resolved through plea negotiations. This high number of plea resolutions allow the prosecution to focus the resources of the state on the non conformists. I could go through a laundry list of problems with the US justice system, but why.

On paper. in the US. you are innocent until proven guilty. The reality is that a person is guilty until they prove themselves innocent. Guilty until proven innocent is also how the court personnel, including judges, approach the matter; they only give lip service to innocence until a finding of guilt. This concept is so deeply ingrained in the US justice system that the first thing out of a defense attorneys mouth, before (s)he even hears the defendants side. is "Lets make a deal." A friend just walked in that has also done time. I told Troy about the belief of innocence unless proven guilty. He just laughed and said "Guilty until proven guilty in the US."

Having done time, I can tell you from personal experience how many people are speaking from where they sit regarding the conditions of the US prisons as well. I will just be simple about it. Even in a state with sissy prisons, like Utah, the English citizens were all trying to get England to extradite them back to that country to do their time because the conditions are so bad in the US.
