Anchor Text Ratio

I more than once created 10 web 2.0 sites with 100% unique and decent content for my main money sites, but I didn't really see much of improvement after adding all these links. I only use around 20% of exact anchor text, sometimes even less (1/10 or 2/10 are exact anchors).

All these web 2.0 sites have a lot of incoming links and decent content. The links to my money sites are already few months old and I do not expect the ranking to improve anymore.

What do you think, would results be better if I used more exact anchor text? Would I be penalized then? Any workaround in general case as well as for sites that are phrase match (leyword + sufix.com)?

Just a question to go on with this, do your web 2.0's have to be niche related? So basically for one site you create 20 niche related web 2.0's and then for another you have to create another 20 web 2.0's or can you pretty much recycle them?

Whoever told you web 2.0 were powerful, lied to you. 10 well built out web 2.0s with tier 2 links is not nearly strong enough to rank anything than the weakest of competition.

When I stopped using my web 2.0s for money keywords and started using them for anchor/ip diversity instead (use blog posts, authority domains etc. for your money keywords), I finally started ranking sites. This was about 2 years ago. I spent the earlier 2 years believing all the BSTs advertising web 2.0 as "strong, HQ" links.

Use web 2.0 to build brand/url/generic/filler links, and use your most powerful domains (whatever you have access to, preferably a PBN) for your exact match and related money keywords.

I have just one article on each web 2.0. However these are manually written articles all by the book. So i added pictures and videos and outbound link to authority sites wherever possible.

As the results some of these web 2.0 are outranking my money sites and other are in top 100. So the web 2.0 do rank but doesn't seem to pass juice much (all ******** by the way).

With 10 strong domains in your PBN, you should be able to see some better results if you focus those 10 on your best keywords and use your web 2.0 for your weaker anchors (brand/url/etc.with co-citation).

Although you can have multiple anchors from the same property, there is a diminishing return for each one you add (and an increased footprint), and google sometimes will choose to count only the first link. I've seen results from adding up to about 3 links from each property, but nowadays I just use 1-2 to minimize my risk. Make sure you continue to link out to other authority sites too (not wikipedia because just about EVERY seo does this. Not just for this, but in general, best to not do what everyone else does. That's how I've avoided penalties for most of my sites).

It's better to have 20 decently built out web 2.0s than 1 really well built ones IMO. More ip diversity for your incoming anchors.

There are also social sites that you can use to create profiles for your brand/website (don't use money anchors on these though, just use these to get your dose of url/naked anchors). Make sure to add some relevant content on the pages wherever possible too.

BTW, 20% exact match anchors is okay when you have very little backlinks, but once you get more, 20% is not okay. The % should not remain constant, but scale down as your link profile increases. At 100 links, I'm usually at about 5% exact, and I go even lower as my link profile gets bigger. With a PMD domain such as yours, I would probably look to go even lower than this.

I would not have such a high % of my backlinks coming from profiles. You're better off building profiles from sites listed on http://knowem.com/ as they are more social and its more natural for brands to get backlinks from these. Having edu backlinks and other backinks that don't make sense for a site to have is okay, as is everything else, in moderation. But having a big % of your anchor profile coming from them is usually not okay. The only type of links that I've gotten away with doing 100% is 100% PBN (but I don't recommend this either because its not that efficient and you are wasting a lot of link juice using weak anchors with them).

I'm assuming here that you are building a site for the long term. Most of the precautions I take is what allows me to keep my main sites ranking for years without being penalized. I am not this careful with my c&b sites, but one thing I've learned with c&b (I'm actually not too good with these) is you either hit hard and strong, or you don't at all. Too many people think that slowing down blackhat efforts (or doing it manually) somehow makes it "whitehat", it doesn't. Your site just gets stuck in limbo and then slapped when a penalty hits, even if you never made it to first page.

I personally don't use social bookmark backlinks at all anymore.

And as for varying main money anchors, I started doing that with my new sites only. I have just 1 exact match anchor, and the rest are "natural" like the example you linked to. All of these sites shot up in rankings during the last penguin 3.0 update and still improving.

I see one site in my niche that has been ranked on #5 for several months. It has link from spam sources such as blog comments but is has mostly natural anchor texts - there are not 2 anchors that are the same except for naked urls. Actually 70% anchors are the same.

Do you use (drupal blog) comments for money sites? I do not like them because it is not easy to get successfuly posted comment on a high pr moderated sites, and if it isn't moderated the problems is that there are to much outbound links then and most of these links are spammy.

Do you use (drupal blog) comments for money sites? I do not like them because it is not easy to get successfuly posted comment on a high pr moderated sites, and if it isn't moderated the problems is that there are to much outbound links then and most of these links are spammy.

There are always sites that slip through the algorithm (whether this is on purpose or not by google to create confusion, is up for debate). I've had 80% exact match anchor text spam sites that ranked for almost 8 months, and one of my 35% exact match c&b test site (all gsa spam links and sape) actually went up in rankings with penguin 3.0 too.

These sites will all eventually get hit by an update (its almost a guarantee) sooner or later. But it's a very profitable way to make money and that's why I'm learning more about doing c&b while building my real sites on the side.

I don't generally use blog comments for my money sites, and when I do, it's usually for traffic purposes (only niche relevant authority sites with moderation). I have been testing do-follow comments for some of my c&b sites lately, but so far I haven't noticed that much improvement aside from an inflated TF metric on majestic (which doesn't really mean much). I don't really have that much experience with blog comments for seo, so I can't comment here on that.

My mistake - actually 70% was domain anchor(http://domain.com). So it seems to me that this made the domain more prone to a spammy link profile.

I thought to use some blog comments just for diversification. I think i will be able to find a few in my niche or related niche with low PR that probably won't get over spammed.

I didn't just built 10 web 2.0 sites, i ranked them in top #100 as well for my main keyword. For some of my money sites the web 2.0 are all in top 30, but the money site still isn't in top 10.

Also building 10 web 2.0 is pretty difficult, i needed to write the content, post and then rank all these sites. Also i needed to filter out all the bad sites. This is work that is probably worth around $100 per site because I do not use scraped and spun articles like others.

Do not recycle web 2.0's. What you can do though to add value to the web 2.0's is to post new content on them.
