Do I need to start all over?

So quick back story, Amazon affiliates was blocked in Minnesota due to some tax law. Recently they opened the program back up to us. I started talking about building a site and my fiance said she would write the articles if it was beauty related. I am new to most of IM and didn't think about doing keyword research.

So what I currently have is a very broad blog about beauty and within the articles different products are promoted. Is this set up even realistic for amazon affiliates? Or do I need to try and obtain an adsense or something similar for this type of blog. I'm starting to get the feeling most people who do the amazon program attack one specific type of product and build an entire site on that one product?

Also, if this is something that I could possibly use, how would I go about trying to attack specific keywords to get ranked? My guess is I would just edit some articles already there and add some new ones all attacking certain key words.

About Adsense​

You can use Adsense with Amazon Affiliates, but I get the feeling that you've rushed into this whole Internet marketing thing; it seems like you haven't done enough research (but you're here asking questions, so that's a good start).

Niches​

Most people who use Amazon Affiliates target a specific niche and a different target consumer. For example, you can have 2 people in the health and beauty niche who focus people who want to look better, but both of them will be targeting very specific types of people. Let's say affiliate A is promoting teeth whitening products and affiliate B is promoting nail health products. Both affiliate are targeting people who want to improve something aesthetically (teeth and nail appearance respectively), but they are both targeting 2 different consumers; one who wants to improve the appearance of their teeth and the other who wants to improve the appearance of their nails.

Success​

If you want to create a successful Amazon Affiliates website, you should also do some research on your target consumer by first identifying a specific type of product you want to promote, identifying your competitors, researching your competitors, and then doing better than them.

If the traffic is coming to the pages I don't see too big of a problem. I would just format the site to be nice and organized with hair/nails/skin care etc. and turn your fiance into a content creating machine. Start looking for highly searched keywords to target with the homepage like [how to make myself look pretty] From now on give her specific high value things to write about and turn it into an authority site. If a hair article is needed than have her crank one out. Her girlie friends are likely to like and share the hell out of it all in facebook/twitter etc.

Thanks for all the good advice, I'll admit I did kind of rush into this one a little bit fast. My next steps will be to learn how to do keyword research, or even find a bst in the meantime so that way I can focus my efforts a little more.

Look in the freebies section for free keyword research reports, too. I had a keyword research report giveaway there last month and I know there were 2 other people giving away reports either after me or during the time I was giving mine away.

Thanks for that info, I'll keep that in mind. I may just have to make this site adsense because I feel I selected to broad of a topic to really be successful with amazon. I may just sprinkle both of them onto it as well and see what happens.

Consider choosing something you are passionate and knowledgeable about, it makes creating the website and advertising more fun.
