My company has given me the responsibility to design a website that lists all the various stores they have across the nation (more than 200). The users should be able to sort the stores according to shortest distance, highest user ratings and lowest product prices.

Is it possible to do this site using wordpress? Maybe ecommerce or something?

Embarrassed to say that I could code that by hand, but don't know how to use Wordpress. lol

www.hostelworld.com appears to be running Drupal instead of WordPress

Yes it will be possible, you just need to find a comparable theme or pay someone to build one for you.

Well I checked it with http://whatwpthemeisthat.com/ and http://guess.scritch.org/ and both said Drupal (I didn't look at source)
