Travelling to Germany!

I will also visit Germany by the end of the month, exactly Berlin - Potsdam. I know Germans are cold and usually they don't speak English or they won't speak.
Also there are also growing numbers of neonazi especially in Essen, they hate foreigners and will probably attack you if you look like one.
But Berlin is an other story, its not a typical German city, there are lot of foreigners and its a typical world metropolis.

Sorry I meant to say Leipzig not Essen, I have friend in lot of places in Germany. I don't know about Munich but I know that Berlin Is very nice and cool place.

Yes you are right. Leipzig is located in which used to be "East Germany". And some parts of east germany could be dangerous for foreigners especially if it's obvious that you are foreign. But as I said "only some parts".

Potsdam is not in Berlin. It's in Brandenburg.

East Germany is way better than it's reputation. It is very important to point out that the majority of people in East Germany are NOT racist.

Every German is an individual. There is no such thing as "Germans are this or that". Some are kind, others are rude. Some are communists, others are nazis. There are certain areas in big cities you may want to avoid just like in any other big city around the globe.

Germany has a lot of culture and history. If you go to Munich check out their Museums. This should keep you busy for 2 weeks. Visit castles and the Alps. Most tourists and Germans love them. Other than that be aware Munich is very expensive of a city.

Trains are on time and acceptable. The ICC is very good for long distance trips. However, most inner city trains really lack coverage of some areas and their time tables are very limited. Imho, trains just work for people who plan all of their transport ahead of time.

Was in Dusseldorf and in nearby towns several times on business. Overall Germans are ok, can't say nothing bad of them, enjoyed to work with them on some projects.
Beer (lager) is good, food is simple but good too. Even if you don't speak neither Deutsch nor English you'll find a way around. Empty streets after dark - only cars on the roads, people mostly stay at home. Still felt pretty much safe walking around. I'd more afraid not neonazi, but immigrants, but I'm white, might be different for not whites, I dunno.

Side note: don't expect 100% punctuality which is often associated with German people. I've once all but missed a plane because ICE Express train was 3 hours late.

I thought German people are very punctual and particular of time. I met some Germans, they are always punctual.

Try to go a little bit outside of Munich too. The countryside is just beautiful!

I wouldn't say they speak "proper" english. Most young people speak good english (depending on their educational background) but older people most likely don't speak english at all.

And I wouldn't say are rude but for sure not as friendly as in the US.
