Dose registered users gives value ?

Hi

I need your opinion guys, if you have got a downloading portal with a FREE membership (so there are no profit) but you have got a lot of registered users (10.000). Dose these registered users gives value for the website ?

Yes, if they are active and you have their email addresses.
If you have monetized the site with ads, you could still send them offers via email.
You could just send an occasional newsletter with Ads in it.
A site with more users is normally valued higher than a site with less users.

Two questions:
- Did the subscription process require confirmation? If yes, then you will have a significant number of people's primary emails. This has potential, even if its a free portal.
- What type of downloads do you offer? If they are niche downloads (IM / self-help / programming / whatever), then those 10k subscribers have even more value.

Try to send out some newsletters and generate more revenue. So you can proof that it's valuable.

If the newsletters don't work, you should just tell potential buyers that you have 10.000 registered users.

It defiantly adds value to your website - the one way or the other. A buyer can maybe make more money out of them than you.
