[STARTING] My journey with the 7878 method

Hi guys,

So after doing a ton of reading and a lot of researching, I've decided that I want to pursue the 7878 method. I will start with 100 letters and mail them out 20 at a time, with a waiting period between each time.

So far I have accomplished the following.

1) List of clients
2) Opened a company
3) Wrote 10 letters so far.

My goal will be to achieve at least 2 people out of the 100, making it a 2% success rate (Duh)

I have edited the letter in my own words to send out. I will be following up with the company after a week but not sure how to do so, possibly through phone call will be the best way.

I have been sitting and reading on BHW for a long time, and I will keep this thread updated with my daily tasks and how this is going. I decided to open a business because if I was going to do this, I wanted to go all in and not look back on it, or at least get the amount of money back that it costed to open up an llc

Any advice would be much appreciated. Cant wait to keep you guys posted!

Great method but don't be surprised if you need to heavily add your own twist, apparently tons of businesses are hit with these messages. Good news is, SO many businesses have terrible ratings so you just need to find the 'approach' to get them on board.

I haven't heard of many businesses being hit with this, I know this method has been brought up years back but doesn't seem like there has been a big call to action with it. But of course, definitely fixating on those businesses with multiple and low reviews. I know SEO is definitely in every business's face but not so much ORM

I have a couple of pointers for you - some of them may seem obvious, but the simple things can easily be overlooked:

1. Makes sure you include your contact details in the letters.
2. If possible, include a landline number - it looks much more professional and businesslike than a mobile number.
3. Follow up calls - a week is too long. I'd call them within a day or two of them receiving the letters, so the information is fresh in their minds.

When you make the follow up calls, be sure to prepare before each call. Know the name of the person you're looking for and have their website open on your screen - you'd be surprised how much that will help your conversation flow.

Another good idea would be to have a follow up email prepared. A lot of people will ask you to send them an email with further information, so having one ready to go means you can send it shortly after you speak to them - which again shows professionality.

When you make the follow up calls, you are bound to make mistakes or feel like you omitted something - that's natural and is part of the learning process. Review each call afterwards and apply anything you learn to the next call.

It won't take many calls until you feel completely at ease and confident.

Some great advice by Trepanated, the same goes for your initial (sales) letter.
I'd advice you to show it to some people you know who are running a business, your accountant, ... And take notes of their feedback so you can improve it. A respond rate increase of a few % can make a big difference here.

Without a company, If we send letters from our residential address will it be a problem?

imho, starting a company is a given in this situation since you will need to be able to provide invoices and receive money legally. Using your residential address won't be a real problem since this can be where your business is located. If you want to come across more professional, you can always rent a mailbox.

Trust me, business owners receive the entire spectrum of service letters. This varies city to city, and being in a large city does have a benefit. New companies are always popping up and they eat eachother like sharks, so you come along with the solution to become #1 regardless of how many 'marketing guys' exist. To the guy who mentioned ties, you better be sending Saint Laurent or Fendi. They won't be able to say no.

One obvious thing is make sure you know what your going to do when and if you land a client. So many times I have seen folk talk of this and have no service, no skills and no clue, when pressed they spout "eh fiver". To be honest that just makes everybody's life harder because it just reinforces the opinion that the internet is full of scammers
