Thanks for the question. I assume you are asking about shared hosting. Sure, you can upgrade at any time - your website will not be affected.

If you're after a bulletproof domain, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Becoming an accredited registrar costs truckloads of money (See http://www.encirca.com/domain-news/blog/2010/05/17/how-much-does-it-cost-to-run-an-icann-registrar/ if you want to know more), and domains are usually where companies lose money anyway, and try to make up by heavy upsell (GoDaddy is a great example - they offer super cheap domains, but you get hit by upselling everywhere). Also, forget registering a bulletproof .com, .net, .info, .org domain - those extensions are under the control of a US-based organization (IANA) and domains using those extensions can be terminated by them at any time - it doesn't matter who you registered them through. Go for a ccTLD or similar.

Hi. I currently have shared hosting with a few sites on hostgator. I'm happy with them but their prices are a bit high, and they're located in the USA so I'm considering switching to your shared hosting.
My question is, can you perform a full cpanel backup transfer from HG to you, and how long should I expect that to take?

We're happy to transfer your sites over to us. Since we're using DirectAdmin instead of cPanel, the transfer process will not be fully automated and we will need to do some things manually (importing DBs, etc). The amount of time needed for the transfer depends on how much data need to be transferred, so I can't give you exact answer. If you can PM me the size of your site (files + DB), I could give you an estimate.
