Follow limits on aged accounts

Could anyone share some insight on safe follow limits on accounts aged a couple of years?Currently I have been following about 250 new users every 30 minutes or so, with 5 seconds between each follow with no problems on a brand new twitter account.I was wondering if having an account that is aged 3-4 years will reduce the follow restrictions or whatnot?

Yeah you can follow 1000 with no issue. Having an aged account and a lot of tweets, twitter, like instagram, is more lenient with bans and things of that nature. For example, if you have a brand new instagram account, and you post a nude pic, it is getting banned almost 100%. If you have an acct that is 2 years old with 700 pictures, and you post the same nude pic, most likely it is getting removed and you might get a warning. So it is a factor that comes into play. But the follow limit is 1000, and I have had little issues. I only hit a your "following too many people too fast" once, and the only restriction I received was a notice that I am 'over following', along with a temporary restriction, maybe 24 hours? That was also a while ago.

You'll hit your limit when you get to 1000. I would say 250 follows/unfollows per day per 2000 followers is safe. It's a very broad number based on no real research, but I've never had any problems doing it like that.

I tried following about 1,000 today using ManageFlitter and a script, but was only allowed to follow 328 of those by Twitter. Seems weird considering the account is over 4 years old and I don't spam - this is a personal account.

Weird. I mean again I am unsure what script you used, but I followed/unfollowed 500+ each yesterday (And that was more than normal) and had no issues. Maybe it did it too quick and got marked?

The script is one I made myself using iMacros along with ManageFlitter. The only thing I can think is that I got flagged because, after a long absence of following, I suddenly went from following no one to hundreds per day. Or more likely, the intervals between following users is too short. (I set it to between 11-13 seconds per follow).

Would really appreciate any advice. I've been a pretty good Twitter citizen. Just trying to reach the most users I can with a personal, non-spammy account.

I do this daily. I run a bot I paid for and follow users based on hashtags and I follow the followers of other users. My bot states limits to follow:

Tweets: 1,000 Daily Across a 24 Hour Period
Tweet Length: 140 Characters
Direct Messages (DMs): 250 Daily
Followers: 1,000 Daily
Unfollows: Currently Unknown (Just don't make it look suspicious)
Favorites: Currently Unknown

I run on limits as well. So I will follow a user ever 110-150 seconds. The only thing I have experienced is my account getting locked for suspicious activity from an app they suspect. All I have to do is change my password and restart the bot.
