PHPBUILT's Idiot-Proof Guide to Authority Site Building

What I usually see when building an authority site on a fresh domain is this:
Let's say we are targeting a one word-keyword with 1k exact searches per month. We write a page around the keyword "keyword", we also want to rank for "keyword reviews".
URL for this particular keyword would be the domain slash keyword-reviews
"keyword" has 1k searches per month
"keyword reviews" has 300 searches per month
I only focus on high quality articles, 750 - 1000 words.
1 - Article enters top 30 after tweaking the title, body etc. after similar rules to phpbuilts. This is usually 2-3 months after the site was built.
2 - I start adding exact match internal links in a "silo" structure. Like a "top rated products" listing in the sidebar (or topnav) with "keyword" as anchor.
3 - I then add exact match links from my niche specific PBN, let's say 3-10 links, depening on the response in the SERPs
The above usually gets me to page #1, best I've had is 3rd position. And, it stays there for about 2-6 months or so. But when the site gets around 1 year old, rankings start to drop. I can easily end up on position 50-100 somewhere. What todo at this point? Why does this happen when the site ages? I thought it was supposed to be better with age?
Does anyone have similar stuff happening? I would really like to figure out where in process I am failing

Once you get to page 1 the only factor that determines if you stay there is whether your content helps the visitor (bounce rate & time on site)

PHP, what's your view on siloing sites? I've seen that you've been active in a few silo posts here earlier, but I'm not too sure about this after Panda (i.e. 'keyword cannibalization').
Is it worthwhile, or will a site made as per your first post with good internal linking do the same?

what i don't understand is, realistically how many authority sites the human race need in one topic? does this not feel as spam after a while? let's say 5 authority sites in a topic ina layman's mind (and in mine too) already begs the question that why all these information is not consolidated in 1 website? this just seems so redundant.

You can also load related/recent/whatever post widget with AJAX, which google can't comprehend ... Same with comments, so they don't screw up your kw% or dillute your theme ... just an FIY. I'm pretty sure Disqus.com will load your comment asynchron, meaning google won't count them ...

I am using the FF plugin and you mentioned for a 3 kw phrase and understand it should be 1% kw density in body but the plugin separate H1/H2/H3 tags from the body, why?
Within the body tag are H1 tags (h2,h3) so isn't that a mistake and one should just add in the H tags words into the body percentage?
Otherwise, you could have a 20% plus kw density on the H tags in a 1400 word document.
What do you think?

You should probably reevaluate that belief if I'm actually reading this post correctly. There's enough proof -- 10 years ago, we were stuffing hidden text on our pages and getting stupid ranks prior to backlinking as a ranking factor. Keyword Density is the original ranking factor. Now we've got to be more clever to use KW density well -- not really that much more clever though.
