Im starting to get quite a few twitter followers, but they don't seem to be visiting my website. Some of my tweets point to my website and I am not seeing any traffic coming from twitter in my google analytics.

Any suggestions on how to convert my followers into website visitors?

The aim is not to get followers and start spamming them with links.
You should be offering free quality information to all followers and gain their trust.
Usually if you tweet 5 times, 4 times be informative and 5th time post link.

This seems very hard to do in some niches. The 90 character or 120 character limit (w/e it is) is simply not enough to convey value.

Not really. Make your tweet a catching headline sort of phrase, then post a link (shortened via bit.ly or whatever you prefer) to the full article on your website. A lot more people will be inclined to click that link, than if you just spam them with a sales link right away.

Give them quality. Not just info but if you can make a meme or something funny relating to your niche that definitely works. I have seen my follow count expand massively as some meme i made went viral. Needless to say as your value rises in their eyes they visit your links.

How % of your follower click on the link
and i will tell you if that good or not

When you say "I am getting quite a few followers" what number are you talking about? For me that would be around 50k-100k which is the size of a very small twitter account. Remember having 100k followers does not mean that 100k people will see your tweet. A tweet has much less value than for example a facebook post since it stays on people's timeline for a very short amount of time.

If you want to drive real, high converting traffic to your site using Twitter have a look at this service here on BHW http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/social-media/690732-instant-retweets-service-make-your-twitter-go-viral-best-twitter-service-bhw.html

Sod all that twitter follower and "nice tweets to gain trust" I
just Spam @reply all day long on auto Pilate. I made $20 in 3hrs
for doing nothing..LOL

Hey but that's just me!

What you can do is, add a picture to go along with the tweet you're trying to drive traffic with. Pictures help a lot with the CTR just my opinion!

100k followers will get you around 800 impressions who will may see your tweet if no one re-tweets it.

Don't forget to invite me to the private island you'll be buying with that $6.7/h you're making on auto pilot. :D

How many followers do you have? You really need to build up the numbers as the CTR will always be low on twitter.
and as said above, dont spam the hell out of it, keep the quality over quantity until your links are really getting hit.

I think if you post too many links your readers will just ignore them.

Unless your strategy is total spam, then of course you can tweet links on auto pilot, but you need to be hammering the account to gain followers as well, and be ready to throw it away and keep starting again.

Dpends on the level of automation/quality you are going for.

Hahaha...... $6.7 per hour X 24hr x 365 days = $58,692 per year... on auto Pilate Who's laughing Now...

Damn my VPS is melting...

The best way is to check your Twitter Analytics - you'll see if your site posts are engaging your followers or not. Make conclusions, improve your posts as advised above

You should reply to their tweets and try to build some kind of communication.
By the way I like the idea with posting a link to the full article on your website.

Spot on. Step back and forget about instant gratification on your part, and give them what they want even if it's not always from your website. Have you noticed most popular IMers share other IMers material, and people still follow them? Just be their awesomely entertaining friend and they'll dig anything you're selling. It's time consuming but that means less people are doing it right = less competition.
