Hi,

I have a couple of authority sites with posts that link back to my money site. The authority sites may have high domain rank, but the posts themselves are relatively low. Would it make sense for me to build backlinks/social signals to the post, in an attempt to raise its rating?

Why not link from the pages that already have high PR?

You should focus on internal linking. Try to make couples of links from 2 pages with high metrics, be sure to not put too many links going out from those pages.
Internal links you can focus on the keywords you want to rank for. Make them steady in homepage at least 30 days and you should improve their ranking.

Anyway, make sense to do that on cornerstone pages, so you can focus on make them rank, no make sense to spend time on posts that expire soon.

This.

You have a certain amount of juice on your site that is determined by how many inbound links you have in total. You need to move that juice around with internal links so that it gets to the pages you want to rank. This is probably the easiest way to get fast changes in ranking.

The other option, which you mentioned, is to build another tier of links to each individual post to gain new link juice, that will eventually be passed on to your money site. Just keep in mind that you can still get a penalty easily if you spam those authority site links. Your going to want quality there as well.

Hey - thanks for the suggestions. I can see I wasn't clear about what I meant though: I have a "legit" business site where some relatively high ranking sites (Which I don't own/control) have made posts with links back to my site. Which is good in it self. However, these posts are low in page rank, even if the domain they are on is high in rank. So my reasoning goes that if I make some link building to this site, I can boost the page which links to me. Since the site has high rankings, I am guessing that a modest boost will ramp up the page rank considerable. So - is this something you would suggest or is it a waste of effort?

i think, it's very good to build branding links as tire 2

Posting outbound link to hight authority is a need for onpage seo, example: link to youtube, wikipedia,...

You will want to raise their link profile simply because there is a chance that more people will find the pages, regardless of SEO. The SEO benefit is there as well, just don't spam and it's a no brainer to test.

What I meant was - There are some high ranking sites that currently link to my site. The pages from where they link are sub pages on that site though, so they don't have as high a page rank as the domain has. Does it make sense then to build a link campaign where I link to the page which links to me? E.g. engage in (black hat) link building to someone else's site. My reasoning is that this is less risky for me, since I won't be firing the spam canon at my own site. And the site that will receive the spam is such high ranking that they probably won't be affected by a manual spam report.
