Is anyone on Elance?

I think odesk is good if you are looking to hire but elance if you need projects. Odesk in last year is seeing very low cost projects so freelancers will work for less fee.

I have worked with a few freelancer off Elance. I have learned it is good to have IT knowledge on the subject of your project. Be able to architect your project out to the T, to avoid scam. Once the project starts, make sure to communicate work, updates, and attachments over elance to keep a record of your changes. But also stay in communication over skype or something to get a comfort level with your consultant.
Architect your project well and adhere to the plan, so if there is a discrepancy you have the data to back you up for any refund you attempt to recoup.

I had a issue were I had to apply for a refund and keeping up with records help in the dispute.

I am offering writing services and Elance is not really good for me. They ask for several things to complete your profile, you must send offers with details... Why don't you try SEOClerks instead? It has more traffic (more buyers and sellers) and the process of ordering/selling is very simple.

I joined Elance last year. Getting the first job is the most difficult thing, but persistent is key. My first project became a regular monthly job, so I am pleased with that and the more feedback I have gained, the more work I have secured.

I know there is a lot of low paid work on there, but it's just a matter of looking for the better paid jobs, which are available.

When it comes to looking for work, I look for employers that are looking for more than one writer as that gives me a better chance of getting my bid accepted and I look for people offering on-going work to build my income and my feedback.

I tried Freelancer for some editing work I needed doing, while I had a great response I found the quality of applicants wasn't great, but I still found some great people in the end.

Elance is actually how I got started in IM, look at me now! ;)

Let's fresh this topic!

I'm not new on elance but the problem of feedback absence is actual for me. Could somebody help me with it?
I have really nice project experience in website development outside of Elance. My portfolio seems to be not convincing enough. If there some good feedbacks on my account I hope to get more bids.

If you are an expert freelancer than Elance is better than Odesk. In Elance as a freelancer you will get relatively higher rate than Odesk.

What exactly do you want Oleg? If you want someone to boost your reputation post a thread in the "Hire a Freelancer" section. I am sure someone will help you for certain fee.

Yes, I am from Elance. Since a years, I am working on Elance as a SEO and Article Writer. The main benefit of Elance is their rate. There have a minimum hourly rate and that is $3. So I think it is a great thing for us.So you can go ahead with Elance.

Yes! This is exactly what I mean! I am ready to pay for such help.

I've made a respectable amount on eLance since I joined in January. However, competition is stiff for web design and SEO related jobs. You also get plenty of people who want you to build them the worlds greatest site for under $500. If you're from the west and are serious then the key is spotting those who are blatantly going to select the $100 quote from Bob in Bangalore and avoiding them.

You right! Someone just need work to be done no matter quality is, but as cheaper as possible. Other prefer high quality for corresponded cost. I tried both ways but the lack of formal experience is still a problem.

odesk is much better imo
but scammers are everywhere, so you just have to choose carefully or build strong long-term relationship with most credible freelancers

Refreshing the topic! Are there any more propositions to get positive reviews on Elance? I need at least 15 feedbacks )
