- was happy in primary school when I fist got my very own mechanical pencil.

- was happy when all my siblings and parents squeezed in a small room with our 1st air condition installed.

- was happy to have $0.10 ice cream

...........

was easily happy with small little things back in the days. Now although can afford to buy high tech expensive gadgets, the feeling is totally different....

Maybe getting old and lonely now....how can I get back the fun and joy????

I'll never be happy unfortunately. But you should think less about money to be happier.
Money is the cause of all the problems (but is so fucking fascinating).

Money is not the cause of all problems, but lack of money is :)

I'm happy when I remember that I'm doing what I love to do, and how I want to do it. Nobody there to stop me.

Except the cops on the odd occasion, usually I can outrun them though.

Set fucking goals guys... money could be one of your goals, but make sure to set others as well. Set short/mid/long term goals; otherwise you will just end up wondering around lost in meaningless days.

Send me al your money and you appreciate what you have again!

It all depends upon what your priorities are, try doing some fun stuffs which you always wanted to and do the things which will make you feel happy.

You rack a disciprine. True disciprine comes from within.. ;)

When I feel down I like to take acid, then I feel happy and shiny again.

I would be happy ONLY IF this forum got a self help section. That way I can visit the lounge w/out reading all these depressing threads.

I've been doing this a long time now and so I have a lot of experience with being unhappy and generally feeling like crap IRL.

Here is what I do (or try my best to at least):

- You got to take care of yourself: eat good food, don't party every night, stop smoking, stark working out
- Stop reading email and forums all day - it's draining and this time should be limited
- Get stuff done in the morning, get up and do high leverage work by lunch time you will likely be feeling good from your accomplishments
- Take breaks often, go take a walk - do some jumping jacks - just move your body
- Keep your work space/office and home clean - this is really important
- Go out a couple times a week with friends, go golfing and do regular things not just partying - save that for the weekend
- Take vacations, this is really important sometimes you just need to reset
- See your family - too many people these days drift apart and this can really help
- Lastly find something that is fulfilling, go do volunteer work, help your neighbors kid with their math homework, join a religion - whatever makes you feel meaning. Don't just write a check to a charity every month actually be proactive

Edit: I should mention this all revolves around feeling good and healthy. You should also dress the part, you don't need a suit and tie but don't wake up and work in your boxers and a t-shirt with ketchup on it from last night. You need to look good and feel good it will go a long way. Being active is just another part of that if you don't move and sit in front of the computer all day you will feel like crap and that can lead to being unhappy real quick.

Many relate money and happiness in this thread, no that not the main point of what make me unhappy. Money certainly is not the cause as I mentioned I can afford more than I used to be, it just the lack of something in today world as compare to the one I lived in when I was little.....

This is solid advice right here. Well put as I do my best to practice most point's you have written here.

Great Post!

just watched news from some sociologist who were trying to find out how happy are people in USA and how does it relate to money.
it turned out the most happy are those earning between 50K and 100K (depending on where they live - you need more $$$ in big towns to be happy cuz expenses are bigger - rent can be few times higher), average salary is few K below 50K nationwide - just for reference

so happiness relates to money, just not in the way people though, you dont get happier with too much money, you still have issues, just different kind of issues
also you cant be happy if you daily struggle what your familiy will eat
