I've always been interested in blogs, and I've been toying with purchasing an already established site that needs little to no maintenance and is pretty much automatic. Something where I can get a steady flow of cash for my investment. Flippa seems to be full of crap or confusing scams so I was wondering is there a reliable blog dealer on the internet who can lead me to the right purchase? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Go to the empire flippers marketplace and browse their list of sites for sale. They list only high quality pre-vetted sites and there's no chance of you ever getting scammed because the guys behind it have good repute and lots of experience.
If I was in the market for an established and profitable blog, that's the first place I would search.

The sure have some pricey sites for the revenue stated... I would not be looking there except to kill some time.

Don't use alexa to judge a site. Although flippa is filled with crap, i listed my very legitimate 100% passive income website earning from amazon, and it is ending in the next few hours. If you are interested you can check it out.

That's true. Most of their sites are priced at 20 times their monthly revenue, but they are all high quality sites. So it's still the best place to purchase sites from if you can afford them.

They are way over priced as there is no acceptable history with most of them... one was January of this year asking 20X profits... other were just 2013.
No way are they even close to those asking prices in terms of value... the owners are irresponsible in allowing those numbers to be considered reasonable asking prices for such embryonic properties.

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's funny how varied the responses that we get here are. Some say that our sites are way overpriced while some say that they're way UNDERpriced. (Based on the fact that we sell through 95% or more of the sites that we list)
As it stands, the sites we have listed and available today range from being created January 2008 through March 2014. We generally require that sites be at least 6 months old and have at least three months of stable or growing income.
If you compare us to any other broker or (legitimate) sites that sell on Flippa, you'll find that we're in the right range.
Ultimately, a site is ONLY worth what someone is willing to pay for it, no matter what the pundits say.

That's so very true, heh.
That's the upside (or curse?) of running a marketplace...you're forced to serve two markets. If we're priced to high, sellers will love us. If we're priced too low, buyers will love us. We do our best to maintain a healthy balance, but one side of the market will always wish it swung more their way.
The interesting bit is that we actually need sellers more than we need buyers, so hoping his comment helped us more than hurt us, hehe.

And if they are willing to pay the numbers being asked on your site, for a large part of the ones listed, they are overpaying.
New sites like the ones I caught there (I only looked at about 10 or so) are not worth the revenue multiple being asked. I'm not a pundit, I've bought and sold domains and know that is not a reasonable pricing structure.
I'm sure someone will come along and buy some of those as there are uninformed people walking the world in all areas.

The asking prices do seem a bit extreme, for instance the beauty & cosmetics one, one of my blogs has a better US alexa rank than that site, and am under 30k for UK! Monthly earnings are more also, I would quite happily take $53,033.20 for that site right now

With your vast experience, care to share with me brokers that regularly sell for less than that? I'd love to contact them, buy their sites, and relist on our marketplace. Please do share the much better sites that are going at much lower multiples...would love to check them out.
What's your real name? Flippa account? Have you ever made a deposit and really reviewed any of the sites we list? I'd be happy to look it up. (And you can message me privately if not comfortable publishing here)
With me, you know exactly who you're dealing with. Right now, "BassTrackerBoats" is nothing more than a pundit to me at best.

I never claimed vast experience but I do know numbers when it comes to buying a domain of any real value.
I also have no interest in making this a personal urinating match.
I just pointed out the numbers are off based on my background. A site that is generating revenue is not much different than a brick and mortar business and I've been building, buying and selling them for 30 years and change so seeing something that is out of whack is not very hard to do.
I've never made a deposit nor registered on your site as I am not in the market for a new site but you do allow the visitor to see the metrics for the domains you have listed there and, like I said the 10 or so that I looked at were out of balance as to value VS cost.
Case in point (I'll leave out real property names):
Health site - started in November of 2013 - Average monthly revenue from affiliates - a little under 8K. Asking price is 155K. That is pretty stiff for a site/business that is not even a year old.

I don't think Alexa is so much important. You can't measure the quality of a blog through Alexa ranking. Alexa ranking can be manipulated through bots.

@BTB, I think you are looking at the prices from a point of view of a flipper. Nothing wrong with that but every buyer evaluates different things.
For example, let's say that someone has a health related business and want to reach out to new clients. For that particular buyer, the value in purchasing a specific health related site could be much higher as he can gain much more with upsales or selling his own products instead of the affiliate ones.
As it was mentioned before, in order that the asked price will turn to selling price both sides need to agree.
