Wordpress vs Custom CMS for Authority Site

I would say custom everyone today use WP

Wordpress. If you have a simple site or just blog, go for it. It's damn simple and everything could be modified easily, and there are zillions of wp programmers there.

Depends what you want to achieve from the site, if you want something that is easy to update and has a huge selection of plugins then WordPress every time. If you are good at coding and want something completely custom, then don't.

It is not dependent on the software that you are using. It might be dependent on the other things such as content, links, social media and bla bla bla... but not the software. Those who are saying it does, should look into web programming a bit more before making these comments.

I have 0 coding skills. I outsource most things.

How was your knowledge about CMS, did u done anything before. Did u used WP before ?
If you are going to learn from begin everything then i suggest custom CMS. If u used WP before then stay on WP

I believe what you are asking is about how it will eventually rank because you want to create an "authority site"!

Wordpress is already very SEO friendly and there are numerous plugins that can make it even more powerful.

With a custom CMS you have to be careful because a simple error you might not realize could hurt you for SEO in the long run.

The top "white hat" SEO guys always say ... instead of building a site and trying to do SEO on it, create an SEO architecture to build your site on top of.

Therefore I am going to recommend Wordpress unless you are beyond positive the team you are going to hire are experts in WHITE HAT. Ask them for proof and be prepared to pay A LOT more.

Personally I use Drupal so this is an unbiased opinion!

Unless you are a dev (or a hell of a hobbyist) you can really forget about siloing WP. There is too much theme bleed.

Html loads lightning fast, has small pages with clean code that will fully validate, and there is ZERO link juice bleed (which means you can link sculpt the entire site), and no inline styles to speak of if you do it right.

AND it requires no updates, and is virtually unhackable.

Its an SEOists dream.

Custom CMS is always good for authority website .But condition is to create a error free CMS.Custom CMS means it has unique design

Using Wordpress would mean that the costs of the CMS in a case of an error, update or any other kind of fault/need might provide you with a simpler solution that you can do yourself, or at least find others who can help you. In the case of a custom CMS, fixing other peoples code is not a fun or easy task..
