• When you accept started to target high competition keywords it will difficult to reach that place. . we can't say that time period, but even we can target long tail keywords to produce a result in particular time even though we desire to consider Google algorithms during the SEO process

Make sure your on page is spot on, I recommend to add a blog section to your site if cost is a problem so you can do some inner linking for your main keywords and improve the strength of your business site. If you are looking for long term results than I would avoid blog comments, because those can be easily spammed.

Start with a few web 2.0s, some with lsi keywords, some with main keywords, and some with raw url.
A few high pr social bookmarks. Avoid trackbacks and URL redirects in your tier 1.

Diversity is key, guess posts, some high pr blog posts ( non spinned) and maybe some pbn links once you settle in the top 100.

Manual is always the best for tier 1 since it is important for the buffer sites to show strength and will pass through to your money site.

Avoid spinned articles on your tier 1.

It is impossible to guage how long it will take since the may update and the competition for the keyword on the first page.

A press release would help as well if you want some high quality traffic, but doesn't guarantee sales.

I suggest a mix of a SEO and non-SEO based plan. Let me tell you this upfront, to rank HIGH SEO competitive keywords to page 1, you may have to spend at least a thousand hours, or at least $1000 bucks, or both, to accomplish and sustain it. It's simpler and more high percentage to rank several related but lower comp terms, which together can better rank the site that is also using the broader niche term.

Meanwhile, you can do a non-SEO based (direct-link thru) campaign based on the high-comp keywords, by concentrating on promotion via viral videos, commenting on related highly ranked pages (be the links follow or no-follow), major sites (Yahoo Answers, Wikipedia, et al), and so on. This way you can get traffic based on the search engines for words you can rank high for, plus strong immediate traffic from direct links that stress the high comp keywords anyway. If you have a few hundred direct links from quality, highly-trafficked targeted sources, you won't need Google to benefit from a popular keyword.
