Best keyword competition analyzer

Hi All!

I've searched posts in the last year or so about this topic but didn't find exactly what I was looking for, so here I am. Here's what I'm looking for. At the heart of it, I am looking for a tool to do keyword research. Here are a couple things I'm after...

1) A tool that can *roughly* and *semi-accurately* analyze keyword competition. I say it this way because I know some of your are going to jump in and say you have to analyze every keyword by hand to be accurate. That's fine for you, but I'm unable to at this point. I will willingly sacrifice some accuracy to save time. The reason I'm not going to do that leads us to #2...
2) A tool that can handle a lot of keywords. I've got an old site I am trying to resurrect. It has done some keyword collecting for me. Downloading the keywords from GA over the last 8 years gives me 100k+ niche relevant keywords. Nice that is somewhat out of the way - getting relevant terms - but I still want to figure out what I should target right now.
3) Hopefully not too bloody expensive. I don't want to pay $200/m for this. I want to analyze a ton of keywords and then move on and start shooting for them.

I understand no program is perfect, and no algorithm is going to be 100 percent accurate. That's totally fine. I just want a way to get a rough idea of where I should start.

I've tried every bot out there and the only one I really liked was SEO Cockpit from Swiss Made Marketing.

Problem is it was too expensive. So I paid a developer to build me a cheaper replica. Was the best decision I ever made.

If you read my post, you'll see I have 100k keywords I'm trying to run. Supposing (terribly optimistically) it only takes 30 seconds PER keyword. That's 833 HOURS OF WORK you are suggesting I do manually. Did you read my post sir? I'm not looking for "really detailed competition analysis". I EXPLICITLY excluded that in my post saying I merely wanted a *rough* analysis. Very rough. Rudimentary. Not necessarily accurate. Because I DON'T have 833 hours to dedicate to keyword research at this point in my life. So please - read my post and offer a SOFTWARE/SERVICE recommendation, not just asking me to do something I've already ruled out.

What about Market Samurai?

I've heard some people say it's broken for competition analysis. How do you find it now, in 2014. Is it still relevant?

NOW we're talking. I've never seen that before and it's definitely catching my interest. I'm taking a look and I muchly appreciate the recommendation man. I don't have time to research every tool myself so I look to good people like you to share your experience

Keywordrevealer works good. It even gives difficulty % and is free to use. But it's down at the moment.

I went there to try it but like you said it was down. Also I'm not sure how bulk I can do with that. I'm not going to type in 100k keywords by hand Do they have any kind of bulk feature?

You have to click on each keyword to check the keyword competition. For your uses, you may try market samurai, long tail pro, etc.

I don't think there is any tool which gives you very deep insights regarding keyword competition.

I would say market samurai as it gives a good idea and works best for established keywords.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post before replying. Had you read it you would have noticed I mentioned I have 100k keywords that need some rough analyzing. Please tell me - how long do you think it will take to do manual keyword research on 100k keywords?

I'm looking for software recommendations just because of the sheer volume of terms I want to run. It doesn't have to be deadly accurate. Just a *rough* approximation from easy to hard.

So far we have...

1. Market Samurai
2. SE Cockpit (never heard of this one til now... anyone else use it?)

Is that pretty much what's semi accurate nowadays?

Yikes seems like most people aren't reading the original post. OP I recommend ultimate niche finder. It's cheap, fast and can handle 100k keywords. It's not the most accurate competition checker but I use it to narrow down my search in exactly the same way you are trying to do.

Another popular tool you may want to consider is long tail pro. I haven't used it myself but have heard great things about it. The monthly fee scared me off.

Thanks for your reply mate Sorry if I sound unhappy in the previous posts... not trying to scare anyone off. Just it seems like some people here just read the headline and then ignore all the relevant details and post their reply. If I could ban em from my thread I would ;-)

Appreciate the recommendation! I have UNF - I just heard people saying it was pretty inaccurate so I was asking about other solutions. I think I'll run maybe 2 dozen or so keywords through UNF and then compare them to Market Samurai and see if I can get an idea where they differ? Just a thought. I'll fire my UNF back up. It wasn't working for a while there so I was looking for something else.
