A beginner's IM journey

Hello everyone.

I thought I should post about my attempt to earn some disposable income. For now, I'll focus on Clickbank affiliate marketing, and if I succeed, I'll invest the profits to other areas of IM.

I'm sure this'll be a lot of fun, be it a brilliant success or a spectacular failure.
Hopefully this thread will also help me receive some helpful advice during this journey.



First update:

I've made a Bing Ads and a Clickbank account. Bought a $50 Bing coupon from Fiverr, since I missed the opportunity to claim it as a sign up bonus (I think I should have registered through an ad that promotes the bonus?).

After I've done some real world stuff, I'll begin to construct the landing page (with Wordpress or some HTML template?) and choose a cheap product to promote. I'm going for quantity over quality, with a product under $20 commission.

Stay hours in this forum and read all can inspire you about IM world! In any case good luck and from what you've writed here seems like you haven't the necessary experience to succed.
Set your goals more clearly you can and follow your road, make mistakes and try another time!

I love to see new starts on here when they open up their online journey for others to see (and learn from). Well done for starting and also for sharing on here too. Both of these can take some courage to do.

As others have said, and will tell you, spend some time in here and soak up all you can and all you need. There is a lot that you can learn and of the fastest ways is by asking questions. This forum is famous for members helping other members so use that feature as much as you need/want.

Update:

My Bing advertising campaign for Clickbank is now live. I decided to diversify and promote two different kinds of products at the same time. If one starts to succeed better than the other, I'll cancel the other one and focus on it.

What's your budget after Bing coupon? In what way have you setted up your landing page? I mean how many content and what tricks are you using to inrease your conversion rate?

Have you studied the market request for your product?

I'm a cheap bastard so I couldn't bring myself into buying domains for them, is a landing page beneficial even if the vendor's pitch page looks great? Are landing pages more beneficial for some product types than for others? Though I will make one today if you recommend so.

Most product pages are crappy. A landing page has the purpose to "warm-up" the lead and tell the potential customer WHY he needs to have the product. Don't talk about the product itself only. You need to answer one question: "WHY should I buy that product?"

That's why landing pages are so great. You decide what you do and how you do. You can split-test different styles and see what performs better. You can use Google Analytics to analyze your traffic and check the bounce rate. And the list goes on....

Well I'm new to this so I don't really know what to expect. To be honest, earning more than the advertising costs would be the minimum.

This allows you to learn with 0 money, it's great situation. So I think you've to study a lot Keyword Research Tool, read some tutorials and make the best decisions (here keyword research and the market research is the 90% of the work).

Listen to this guy he is the man.
If your going the paid traffic route please make sure you have a proper tracking solution in place.
Don't expect a 400% ROI on your first campaign. You'll lose money before becoming profitable just bear through it and keep analyzing and optimizing.

Hmm... Based on the feedback I've paused the Bing campaign, and will be making a landing page. It'll be clean, sleek and minimalistic, with the focus on why the customer needs it, just as suggested.

I think I just got a little bit too excited and rushed to launch the campaign Well, that's a learning experience too.

Update:

My PPC Clickbank journey was something I'd call a spectacular disaster. I've ran out of my coupon credits, so there's nothing to be done there. Though at least I might have learned something.

Next I'll be moving to Amazon affiliate methods.

Also I now have a concrete goal... to be able to purchase a Herman Miller Aeron chair though to be honest, if I earn enough money for that, I'll probably buy a cheaper chair instead and spend the rest on computer hardware.

Expect another update when I:

a) earn my first dollar
b) stop trying altogether
