Could it have been due to these small updates within that time period?

Authorship Photo Drop — June 28, 2014

John Mueller made a surprise announcement (on June 25th) that Google would be dropping all authorship photos from SERPs (after heavily promoting authorship as a connection to Google+). The drop was complete around June 28th.

Payday Loan 3.0 — June 12, 2014

Less than a month after the Payday Loan 2.0 anti-spam update, Google launched another major iteration. Official statements suggested that 2.0 targeted specific sites, while 3.0 targeted spammy queries.

Pr juice is gained/lost every time a spider visits your site from a backlink and for google server update pr regularly. It's a different thing if they not update it in toolbar.

It takes couple of months to update (at least on toolbar).

You are way to obsessed with PR. Forget about it, it's just not what it used to be.

Well, all I am going by is what you are saying. There happened to be an update around the time your PR got "hit". You must not have been updating your content or some of your backlinks got deleted or deindexed.

So much BS talked about on this thread, time to clear a few things up:

1. This website explains how / when the toolbar PR is updated (The PR you know About) http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/google-pr-update/
2. As you'll begin to tell, no one knows when / if it'll be updated again.

An Interesting Thought

A whole industry exists in selling PR, don't think Google hasn't noticed this and doesn't view it as a big problem.

3. Someone mentioned PA / DA - These are not Google measurements, are easily gamed and shouldn't carry as much weight as they do IMHO.

4. If you're buying a domain it takes a few minutes to do some elementary back-link research. Don't rely on automated crap to do your due diligence, the best tool you have is ahrefs / majestic, google and that piece of grey between your ears.

You are right there. DA/PA are not good because they can be easily manipulated or faked. But, I think if the requirements for the PA/DA were increased or modified, it could be better. Much better.

Who cares about why pr dropped ? the thing i care is that their pr was updated.

I hope it will be as soon as possible :)

That is one good sentence you typed out. "who cares about the pr drop, I care about the update that made it drop, which is the only reason I care in the first place". :yeah:

I use Ahrefs primarily for link research and for getting an idea of how much authority a site has. Majestic SEO is my secondary link research tool.

I use Ahrefs, Majestic, Moz, Traffic Travis, and Scrapebox for researching my competitions backlinks, to see which of mine are indexed, and average out the results I get accordingly.

From 2013 onwards Google change the PR update process. Before that "PR has been updated 3 months once". But now, its fully depend on Google. According to Google humming bird algorithm there are "200 more ingredients"

There were more than 200 ranking factors before hummingbird.

It seems that there will not be next PR update. In my opinion something was happen that last PR update has been realized without knowledge of Matt. I conclude it from his twitter message.

And it is a logic step becouse most tools is basing on PR. If they will do an update then many people just delete bad domains and fight will start again. In my opinion on today is the only one metric - Trust Flow by majesticseo.

last pr was way longer than 2-3 months ago ( maybe 8-9 months ago). Also pr is updated constantly but internally, they don't just show it on the toolbar so even if that shows 6 it could actually be a 3-4 or maybe 7 if you're lucky, no way of knowing, you should drop chasing the pr and concentrate on getting traffic, that's the one real thing you can count on.
